Amen! Rebellion is truly baffling, as it is choosing to go against knowledge and means to do right! “What could have been done more to my vineyard, that I have not done in it? wherefore, when I looked that it should bring forth grapes, brought it forth wild grapes?“ Isaiah 5:4. God has the same wonder and frustrating thoughts! “Why do they sin..!!!?” Basically.

Curious to hear your goodly understanding of practising these verses today 'Slaves, obey your earthly masters with deep respect and fear. Serve them sincerely as you would serve Christ.' (Ephesians 6:5 NLT) 'If within the city a man comes upon a maiden who is betrothed, and has relations with her, you shall bring them both out of the gate of the city and there stone them to death: the girl because she did not cry out for help though she was in the city, and the man because he violated his neighbors wife.' (Deuteronomy 22:23-24 NAB) 'A priest’s daughter who loses her honor by committing fornication and thereby dishonors her father also, shall be burned to death.' (Leviticus 21:9 NAB) 'But if this charge is true (that she wasn’t a virgin on her wedding night), and evidence of the girls virginity is not found, they shall bring the girl to the entrance of her fathers house and there her townsman shall stone her to death, because she committed a crime against Israel by her unchasteness in her father’s house. Thus shall you purge the evil from your midst.' (Deuteronomy 22:20-21 NAB)

Colossians 3:23-24 And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ. The focus isn’t on the fact that Paul was supporting the idea of slavery in Ephesians 6:5, rather the concept of doing work or such the like unto the Lord. Look at what Paul says in the following passage.👇👇👇 1 Corinthians 7:20 Let each one remain in the same calling in which he was called. 21 Were you called while a slave? Do not be concerned about it; but 👉if you can be made free, rather use it. 22 For he who is called in the Lord while a slave is the Lord’s freedman. Likewise he who is called while free is Christ’s slave. 23 You were bought at a price; 👉do not become slaves of men. 24 Brethren, let each one remain with God in that state in which he was called. As far as the Old Testament passages in regard to stoning, in the New Testament, it says we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities and powers. The covenant has changed. We separate from those who call themselves Christians who remain in sexual immorality and the like. We’re under the law of Christ, not the 613 laws of Torah. Hope this helps.

@@voiceoftruth I appreciate the explanation. Whilst reading the bible was enough to make me refuse to believe anymore, it's good to have someone understand and know the context of some of these passages rather than pretending they don't exist like most. Respect, and I do appreciate the knowledge

Hey! Hope you’re well. To hopefully add to the discussion (rather than subtract), the laws were like criminal laws rather than religious laws, for a specific time period for the nation Israel to separate them from the nations around them - who were burning their children alive among other things, in common practise. It’s sad, but I think the idea was it was to make Israel distinct in light of the surrounding nations..? That is by no means representative of Christian ethics though. For that, you should look to the teachings of the historical Jesus :)

@@adisonransleywell I understand that some folks (including myself) regard the Bible as having PRIMARY authority according to 2 Timothy 3:15-16 and a few other verses. But my issue is with those who interpret it to mean that the KJV Bible is the Only authority. That's where the issues come up with slavery nowhere being specifically condemned in the Bible anywhere. It took later church authorities to judge it as immoral by nature

Let me ask you something. Does obedience have to start within the heart at initial salvation (Romans 6:16-17)? If say no, how is Christ the author of salvation to all who obey Him? (Hebrews 5:9)

@@Orange00000p Who gets eternal life according to this passage? Romans 2:6 who “will render to each one according to his deeds”: 7 👉eternal life to those who by patient continuance in doing good seek for glory, honor, and immortality; 8 👉but to those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness-indignation and wrath, 9 tribulation and anguish, on every soul of man who does evil, of the Jew first and also of the Greek; 10 but glory, honor, and peace to everyone who works what is good, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. 11 For there is no partiality with God.

He belongs with Jehovah’s Witnesses. They understand the Bible much better than any religion I’ve known. It baffles me how many religions preach the same thing over and over lacking in effective context, or comparing other verses. And taking symbolism in literal terms. Or downright mistranslation. Stay away from the King James version and go read the watchtower translation

@@voiceoftruth understand what I’m saying. Unless you are directly quoting a specific verse exactly than you are invariably twisting it. Im not coming at this from any sort of belief perspective it is literally what twisting something is for better or worse. Like if I’m preaching anything but direct quotations I’m twisting it to get people to behave in a certain way even if that way is a more Christian lifestyle.

If you obey Christ, you’re in Christ and therefore it’s not a righteousness of your own! If you don’t obey Christ, you have no righteousness and therefore you’re not holy! Read your Bible!👇👇👇 Romans 6:16 Do you not know that to whom 👉you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one’s slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness? Romans 6:19 I speak in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh. 👉For just as you presented your members as slaves of uncleanness, and of lawlessness leading to more lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves of righteousness [f]for holiness. Romans 6:22 But now having been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God, 👉you have your fruit to holiness, and the end, everlasting life.

@@Orange00000p Here’s one thing that Christ said, and there are many more. If you haven’t taken the time to read the New Testament, I highly recommend doing it! Matthew 5:27 “You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ 28 But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart. 29 If your right eye causes you to [j]sin, pluck it out and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell. 30 And if your right hand causes you to [k]sin, cut it off and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell.
