And whether he tried to or not, he really made America look pathetic for complaining about how we disagree in politics. There are real issues around the world, and we’re over here acting like we have it rough. This song and video is amazing. We need more of these from people around the world calling to their issues they have in their own countries!

This message is not for Nigerians only,it's for all African countries. Leadership is poor,no use of resources to better the life's of citizens,they only brag about it in their speech. Anyone who make his or her way to the throne of the country only feeds himself. We just have to fight for ourselves besides our forefathers have been facing it ....and born us into it...it's only force promises we get. May God Help And Bless Our Hustles.

Africa could be the leading continent of the planet if its leaders, once in power didn't only think about themselves, their bank accounts and their families, but had for only main thoughts the future of their countries. It's with such leaders that Asia has risen to give such numerous economical powers (China, India, Taiwan, Corea, Malaysia, Turquey, Iran, Singapour, etc...) As long as each african leader that takes the power at the place of the previous one will only care about cashing as much as possible before beeing ejected too (and so forth, beeing bribed and used as a puppet by the current super powers, and multinational corporations), Africa will just keep beein in its current state...

To the ones callling this a rip off, first of all, he has acknowledged Childish in his caption. Secondly I believe childish started a kind of movement where lyrics and the video will point out wrongs in society without being overly direct about it, giving us the notion that society is looking in the wrong place while injustice is abounding..... i personally find this outstanding.... cant wait for the many background theories and explanations to begin.
@JoelAkrong
@JoelAkrong 6 жыл бұрын
Seni Joshua sorry, I didn't say he was the originator of it. I am aware of this being present since the birth of music itself.... what I said was he has started a movement. .... and we must admit it is peculiar to him, the way he did it... otherwise it would not have blown up so massively the way it has. Setting a trend, so that others try to imitate something as closely as they possibly can... or to identify specifically with what you put out there in your work is the definition of starting a movement...

I wonder why most a-list artistes especially wizkid and davido have never done a song that talks about the injustice and corruption in Nigeria. Yet they claim Fela is their mentor. Great Job falz.

Omatsola Asifor read your comment over again and see how ignorant you are. Get the message and move on with your life. We all know Childish Gambino did it first. You think "Manya " rythym belongs to wizkid? It was done by a group of Ghanaians . Davido's "IF" has lines from lagbaja's song. Nicki Minaj, Chris Brown, Demi Lovato and a whole lot if local and international artistes do it. Covers and excerpts are legal as long as you give credit and you have permission from the original owner.

Ola Bode I get your view but this isn't because he did a Gambino cover. He owned the song. He brought a whole new level of creativity and entertainment put together. Muslim girls asking shaku, shaking political and social tables? Just appreciate his work and care less if it's a cover or nah. Funny enough I'm not his fan but this is epic!

Hi I I think you’re mistaken, the original “This is America” is very raced based and shows facts of black America and black people in American society, so I don’t see any comparison to the original if it’s not racially oriented, so I’d suggest you think before you answer comments in a defensive fashion.

DJKessyKing nobody's taking money from the poor congregation to set up schools for rich kids. tithes and offerings are different from seed that are down into the minister's life. titihes and offerings are used for the welfare of the church. the expensive universities were funded from the ministers personal account. So its different, besides building a school that standard costs a lot of money. You can expect him to make it free after doing it, BTW there are scholarships for the ones who can't afford. You all should stop talking trash about you don't know

For those who don't understand the pidgin English Falz used: This is Nigeria, just because I'm on TV now, person wey no get work is checking to see if my watch is original- meaning; Just because he's on TV, someone who's jobless is trying to know if his watch is original. (On his social media platform by the way) This is Nigeria, where dat madam philomena, money vanish from your office 36 million naira , you talk say na animal - this means Where's that madam Philomena, 36 million Naira vanished from your office and you say it was swallowed by an animal (Snake); She was in charge of the JAMB(Joint Admission and Matriculation Board) funds for registration of University applicants Politicians wey steal some billion and billion, e no dey go prison o - meaning Nigerian Politicians who steal/loot billions and billions of dollars/Naira don't go to prison. Police station dey close by six; Security reason o - meaning Police stations in Nigeria closes by 6 p.m because of security reasons (Though it's not all Stations) Young people are still working multiple jobs and dem talk say we lazy o - This means young people work multiple jobs and yet the president said that Youths are lazy ( though the president never said that Literally but said at the commonwealth meeting in london recently that "since Nigeria has been an oil producing country the youths just want to sit down and get schools, food and health care for free) This is Nigeria; there's plenty wahala sha, Fulani herdsmen still dey slaughter, carry people dey massacre - This means there's a lot of trouble in Nigeria, Fulani herdsmen go about Slaughtering people and they Massacre farmers as well. This is Nigeria, Yahoo Yahoo don tear everywhere and we act like it's so cool - This means that Yahoo Yahoo (Internet Fraud/Advance Fee fraud or crime ) is rampant and we act as if it's so cool. This is Nigeria; SARS ( Special Anti-Robbery Squad) stop you for road , any explanation you go talk am for station o - meaning Whenever you're stopped on the road by SARS you have to Explain yourself to them at their Station, there's nothing you say that can set you free until you get to their Station. I hope I've done justice to the pidgin for those that understand pidgin English. This is not the first Falz music about the social ills in Nigeria so for those saying he's a copycat you should check out his other song titled Wehdone Sir. He just saw an opportunity that would get enough reactions which he has gotten as the Wehdone Sir only has 1.7 million views

As a Hungarian who was always concerned with human rights violations in Africa, I believe this video and song are a great package to awaken the Nigerian and African society. Wish there would be peace and prosperity on that continent, but for major changes to ever happen, the mentality has to be reformed from the grounds up. Democratic and humanist values should prevail over anything else.

No need to get so rude. My country has already went through the same situation as in many parts of today's Africa, and that was in the late Middle Ages, but thanks to some great luminaries in the Romantic era among our statesmen, we managed to catch up pretty well with Western Europe. Of course there is still a lot to do, until we can reach British, German, French level of prosperity, but according to all Eurobarometers our country is on an uphill. Wish the same to Africa, since I find it a highly interesting continent, probably the one one which still holds the most potential on Earth.

Well, we have developed motorways and good road infrastructure which is essential for a modern country. We also don't lack any hospitals, schools, universities. Our buildings are also in a very good condition, clean streets. There is peace and low criminality rate. Budapest is one of the jewels of Europe. These are just some of the basic conditions of modern country should have. Yes, our villages still leave much to be desired, but our young generations move to urban areas either way, thus the future is in urbanization, less is ruralization. Villages will die out probably in the next 50 years, as mostly old people live there.

Now that is an amazing cover, I spent the first 5 years of my life in Nigeria (my parents were missionaries there building a school, I don't really know about what happened after the school was built, and I'm sure there are horrible horrible people who misuse the power the church gives but there are also those who really are just there trying to help. As for the school, I only remember my mom teaching kids how to read and my dad planning the architecture of the building) and even now I still remember some small flashes of the wonderful sisters who played with me as a child, I had a best friend named Kasarachi and they called me Amarachi, my mom says they also used to call me a little white baby too haha xD This video reminds me how difficult life is there, so I really hope that things get better for your people, and the friends whom we've lost contact with, I really hope they're alright...

This is what I like about places in Africa and India. They're not afraid to mainstream their problems, instead of covering it up like many places in the world do. Song was well done. That's how to do it, make the song hit an international audience and then embarrass the hell out of the politicians who run the country into doing something to change it.

discoguru Take UNICEF India's release of the 'poo to the loo' song. Most countries would find it embarrassing to even release a video about their obesity issue, and instead mask everything with "please no body shaming" or "big is beautiful." Indians are so open about their issues that they let international journalists in everywhere to a point everyone around the world knows about poverty in India. How many people know about poverty in China or Eastern Europe? Not many.

ITeKs I'm aware it's a cover to 'This is America' by Childish Gambino. That doesn't negate the fact that a Nigerian (Jamaican too) created a parody/satire of the negative aspects of their country. India and Africa's problems are mainstreamed all over the international news. They're very quick to shame themselves. This is one reason why many problems such as malnourishment, homelessness, and open defecation are going down each year in these nations. Obesity rate, divorce rate, opioid crisis, etc. is going up in the west.

Wonderful video and lyrics Childish Gambino has given eyes to the blind.. This is Nigeria where the best graduating student of a university is not recognized by the state governor but the winner or finalist of BIG BROTHER NINJA is made an ambassador for education and given millions of Naira for having sex on National TV

Peculiar Runas it is so crazy, it is even crazier when the youth see nothing wrong with that and idolise overnight celebrity that only eat, gossip, talk shit and have on TV. The politicians are only playing on our "mumuness". Reward a best graduating student will not make the news but rewarding those having sex on TV and are welcomed by crowd (mostly youth) will go viral and appreciated by the yoot. One more star for Falz for having the courage and sense to do this...man shall not live by booze and boobs alone.
