This is heartbreaking. She was one of my faves growing up. I don't know how many times I sang along to, "Out Here On My Own" on my 45. That song was on repeat as a kid. I loved Fame, first the movie, then the TV series. If you haven't seen the movie DC Cab, you should look it up. It was hilarious. A lot of great actors was in it including Ms. Irene Cara. She was a very gifted and talented woman and was wrongfully taken advantage of in the industry. Rest in Peace Ms. Cara! Your work will forever live on. 🙏🥺❤️

I have loved the music on the Fame soundtrack & I used to dream of being a choreographer, ever since I was in my high school dance team. I loved watching Debbie work, and she was a huge reason for the success of the movie, along with the fantastic songs. My name really IS Debbie Allen & I'm always happy when someone knows who Debbie Allen, the choreographer is bc I feel connected to her by the love of dance. I injured my lower back at 15 years old and it has grown to a point where I can't even work anymore. I'm turning 65 soon & I still adore Irene's voice & the movie. I bought the movie & soundtrack. I was so sad to see her go but she's still with us within her songs.

As was I, and the movie resonated with me too. I was a bit young to grasp nuance but I did understand the obvious themes despite not yet having lived (most of ) them personally (yet). My eyes and head was filled with the romance of it all and I too, was made for "greatness!" Well, not so much... :-) but I'd love to see the movie again as if I recall correctly all parts were beautifully performed and the issues def still relevant. Very sad abt Irene Cara.

Rest in peace, Irene Cara. ❤🙏 I will never forget this song and of course, "What a feeling" (Flashdance) - they were my favourites. You and your talent will be missed.

RIP Irene! We will miss you so much, you were such a big part of the Gen X teen years. I remember you from our neighborhood in the Bronx and was always proud of what you accomplished.

I always watch this video periodically. I auditioned for both schools PA and M&A in the 80s got into both. The schools merged. I was in the first class where the schools merged just behind Lincoln Center. People who are accepted are beyond talented. I auditioned on the piano. I had a wonderful time that I will always remember.

Irene was quoted as saying during an interview..."I never doubted I would be a star one day. I was told that as a little girl." A true Triple Threat (dance, sing, act)!!

Growing up in the 80s, the show was a huge part on my childhood. I cannot remember a lot of the scenes from the show but I’ll never forget this intro song. Thank you so much for such a great memory Irene R.I.P

RIP Irene Cara 🙏💙🙏 The kids dancing and bringing the streets and the hussle and bussle of the "business" and "order" of the streets to a standstill? It was everything then. It remains everything now!

What I love about this, other than the motivating song is the many demographics of people, and culture all mixed in one. This is who we are, normal people unknowingly representing every country around the world. We are a country of immigrants which makes us unique from any other. This is our strength

People were cool with each other back then. Nobody gave a second thought to race. The only thing that mattered was if you were a likeable person. Now it seems race is the one and only defining characteristic of people. I find that sad
@tinadraper91432 жыл бұрын
Yup I'm native American and grew up with all races, I never even thought it was an issue til I saw trumpies chanting build that wall, I had to switch parties after that. I am prolife and realized only certain lives matter to them.

Unique from any other?! You are just highlighting the ignorance of the U.S! Do some homework. Find out REAL history from around THE GLOBE! The TV series was great. I agree. But seek out a wider perspective on culture and history and you miiiight just become a bigger better person!
