Brings back so many memories, loved Erica, her voice was and still is amazing! A very underrated actress and singer. I even still have a letter and signed photo from her all these years later. I could never understand why she didn't become a huge star after she left fame...like a major recording artist 🤔 At least we have one album from her (decades later) and KZbin for the 80s classics 👍

I still to this day love this song. I miss shows like Fame. Hollywood tried to redo Fame and it was a total disaster. Sometimes you just can't redo a classic. The original movie was great and the TV show was even better. They should have just left it at that.

This song is the sister version to Flashdance's "What a feeling". Both songs came out in 1983 and were performed by actresses that played Coco. LOL.

@probableprincess, I do agree you. I look at this girl and she is out of this world. I wish she had stayed. The show needed her. She was the leading teen star. Leroy was ok in later years, in fact, he was great but Fame was sorta centered around Coco.

I so agree. Fame lost a lot of its magic when Erica Gimpel left. She was the real deal and the cream of the crop! The energy, the passion and the authenticity is what she brought to the screen for every performance. Maybe a lot was because Erica truly went to the School of the Arts but, the show suffered her loss. I also have to say the dancers were the best ever!

@@frenchanthony2226, Erica had pretty big shoes to fill taking on the role from Irene Cara, but she did it and then some. I wish she'd made more appearances after Coco Returns. She had great chemistry with Nia Peeples.

Erica was the whole package, but Gene was the best dancer and Valerie the best singer, and Nia was a great new whole package when she entered the show. Of course I think Erica is awesome, but she wasn't the whole show, that's an overstatement imo.
