I think nowadays most people who do recognise this game don't even think of it as a sequel to Kid Niki, more like "that one obscure game that pirates tried to pass off as a Mario game". That rom hack also happens to be extremely common on plug n play/handheld tat nowadays.

yeah this game is infamous in the west as being another victim of being turned into a Mario bootleg (and notably having the copyright changed to 1993 Wario) but if it weren't for that I suspect this game would have been forgotten about since despite being the third game in the Kaiketsu Yanchamaru series there's little reason to playing this train wreck

This game is not as radical as the previous ones in the series but KY3 is still a very playable one. I mean, kudos to Micronics for making some improvements from the time they've made Athena (and many other "interesting" games) 😊

I believe this one was fairly popular as a Mario bootleg in the aftermarket. I mean... it's fairly short and easy, just like the previous Kaiketsu Yanchamaru game. It's not exactly horrible, taking into account Micronics' standards, but there are certainly better platformers from 1993 you could play. (also, isn't there at least one more game by Micronics?)

Another "classic" from the Famiclones. I watched my friend play through this one some years ago, and this game is Not Good. You simply can't rely on the wall jump in trickier situations. The issue with the camera was already mentioned. Also, the graphics at first sight seem striking and stylish, but the more you play, the simpler they become! The tiles in one of the later stages are something from a much older game. Thankfully, there were no more Kid Niki games!

We haven't seen Micronics in a pretty long time, though at least this game was playable, unlike pretty much any other Micronics products. It appears that Micronics took the lesson and decided to make better games. Though why Irem decided to call Micronics for their last two release is unknown for now. I'm not technically fond of the Kaiketsu Yanchamaru series, though I think part 2 might be the choice if I wanted to play one. Not sure if Micronics improved in Daiku no Gen-san 2, which was their last game.

Oooh Ninja Mario. :D Seriously though, never liked this or the prequel, partly because they took the look of the original and threw it out. Strangely the original game had a true sequel which was wonderful on the Gameboy I discovered by accident hiding inside of those piratey GB Boy Color handhelds as they all have a soldered in multicart attached to the board. Gansou Yancha Maru on there looks/sounds like the FC/NES title, but expanded more visually, better combat, better stages, no lame jankenpon, and a neat bonus room series as well.

Bye bye, Kid Niki, you Radical Ninja! This is a really fantastic game... for the 80s. Unfortunately, it was released in 1993, so it feels like a real throwback game. The typical slowdown, bugs, and flashing of Micronics are on display here. It really brings down what could have been a fun game. The real highlight of past Yanchamaru games were the bosses. They were very funny and silly, enough to make you want to progress forward to see what the next one was. This one, well, does not have that. They look like very generic bosses. This is a really sad outting for this series, unfortunately. You suck, Micronics. Just one more Irem game to go.

This actually looks surprisingly competent for Micronics: Their usual MO are games that are slow, flickery and completely unplayable. This looks like a fairly average platformer with a pretty bad control scheme.

Good job omitting any footage of the Stage 2's notorious animated Manneken Pis statue enemies, those problematic 5 pixels could've auto-flagged this entire video otherwise.
