In this educational video, Dr. John Chapman describes the science of the genetic lipid disorder, FH (familial hypercholesterolemia), which can lead to extreme levels of LDL particles, and early, aggressive coronary heart disease. Dr. Chapman describes the role of Apo B, a protein that provides the structural core of particles called lipoproteins, such as LDL and Lp(a), which transport lipids such as cholesterol through the bloodstream, to artery walls.
