Well, at least regarding the Disney version of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, I did notice something interesting: despite having a huge appetite and eating a lot, Ichabod stayed really skinny and never even got a bloated stomach. That reminded me of Shaggy from Scooby Doo, and it was stated in one movie that Shaggy has a high metabolism. Because of that I think that at least the Disney Ichabod wasn't gluttonous, he just had a high metabolism and needed to eat that much just to stay alive. So maybe he aimed for marrying someone wealthy because he wanted to always be able to afford large meals - survival instincts, to sum it up - rather than being a gold digger. Or maybe it was both survival instincts and him being a gold digger. Who knows.

I love how different 'Jack-O-Lantern' is from the source material. The original tale differs but it inolves a blacksmith named 'Stingy Jack' who was the town drunk and just an overall douce, when Jack dies the Devil comes to take Jack to hell. Jack tricks the devil (which can be Jack sealing the devil with a cross carved into a tree or turning him into a coin) and getting a second chance at life. Jack doesn't change his ways and when he dies again he can't get into heaven, so he wanders the void for a while before going back to hell. The devil curses Jack with a coal of hellfire and turns him into a monster nobody would ever mistake for a normal spirit. Depending on which version you hear Jack either becomes a guide for spirits on Halloween, stays his normal drunken gambling self, or straight up becomes a malicious monster who lures people into the forest with his light and pumpkin head so he can eat them. Its one of my favorite Halloween stories and its an underrated one too, and its a hell of alot cooler than a leprechaun who lives in a pumpkin as a scarecrow.

Honestly, I really like the Invader Zim Halloween special, but it’s also SUPER weird. The plot? Dib and Zim get stuck in a nightmare world that exists in Dib’s mind on Halloween. The two run from monsters, but find out that the monsters want to get to the human world to cause chaos or whatever. The portal to it is inside of Dib’s head, and because he has the crazy collar (it’s a silver and red collar that deemed him crazy) the monsters realize he’s the one with the portal. After running, in a moment of survival instinct and a will to live, Dib RIPS the collar off and SLAMS it on Zim, throwing him to the monsters and using him as a sacrifice. He realizes that they can’t get home without the portal, so blah blah blah they escape and it gets all gross and Zim breaks his spine. Just some spooky Halloween fun, right? Right…?

"Witch's Night Out" seemed to run more in the US instead of "The Gift of Winter"... It seems that this Jack O'Lantern must've inspired the Grand Pumpkin on "The Simpsons"...only I don't think this scarecrow was looking for revenge on people making food with pumpkins... Welp, not the first rock musical to play around with "Faust"...though I wonder if "The Devil and Daniel Mouse" inspired "The Apple" somewhat. A Canadian singing duo as Adam and Eve stand-ins with the girl tempted by a music promoter who is literally the Devil and becomes a flashy rock star...that's TOTALLY what happens.

the story of the original jack o lantern goes like this. Their was a lazy farmer who was basically a total jerk who one night discovered that a devil was in his barn. So he got a cross and pitch fork and corned the devil. He said that he would only let the devil leave alive if the devil would agree to deny his soul to enter hell when he died, the devil agreed to the terms. When the man died and as he approached the gates of heaven he was denied entry since he was such a lazy and foul old man
