To celebrate the 38th anniversary of the premiere of Richard Dawson's Family Feud, here is a daytime episode from sometime in 1979.

This was killing me but I figured it out. The ballplayer for the Red Sox on the de Cuitiis family is Michael Ongarato, who never made the majors but did play five years in the Red Sox chain and played in the longest game (albeit briefly) in American pro baseball history, the Pawtucket Red Sox’ 3-2, 33-inning victory against the Rochester Red Wings in 1981.

Something repairmen come to the house to repair. Number one answer was TV. That sure dates this episode. Nowadays you throw out your TV when it stops working and its out of warranty. I would have said furnace.

I can't believe for the thirst quenching question nobody actually said "Gatorade"! That was my first guess when the question was first asked by Richard! When Patty from the de Ciutiis family said "Cola", I was like "Are you serious??" Cola doesn't quench your thirst! Anybody in their own right mind would know that! Oh well. Everyone thinks the risque answers are common only to today's Family Feud episodes, that things were cleaner back in the day. This episode appears to prove that wrong though, in the first two categories.

It wasn't constant though like it is today. Steve Harvey is a great host, but nearly every question is written to get some sort of risqué answer for a "KZbin moment" and a 2-minute comedic routine from Steve. I guess that's what society today likes as FF ratings are the highest it's been under Harvey.
