Family Holiday In Torquay Devon | Abbey Sands Hotel | Day 1
We are taking a break in Devon Torquay in the south of England.
We visit our relative in Torquay for the first time. We get to spend time in the Abbey Sands Hotel which was a pleasant experience. We do enjoy traveling and staying in hotels and we were in for a surprise when we arrived at the hotel in Torquay. Torquay was known as the English Riviera with is sandy beaches and palm trees. We have never visited before so we are super excited to experience the sights and some of what Torquay has to offer.
Join us on our first day of arrival and share in the fun and laughter.

Heya Thanks so much for your message We absolutely loved it in Torquay. I can tell that there is so much to explore. We will definitely come again. We were planning to visit last year but we had to cancel in the end. Where would you recommend for us to visit next? Our youngest daughter is nearly 4 so no need for a push chair next time 🙂

@@TheMalcolms7 Hi here are some things I would recommend for your next visit to Torquay area, Try the "Round Robin trip" it starts in Paignton with a ride on an old steam train that goes to Kingswear where you then take a short trip via a foot passenger Ferry across the mouth of the River Dart to Dartmouth where you will find an Historic town dating back Hundreds of years ago and can have a lovely Cream Tea at the Dartmouth Station and look around the small Town, Then take the River Dart Boat to cruise up the River Dart to Totnes which again is a lovely Town to visit, from there you catch the Open Top Bus back to Paignton with great country views. This is all on ONE Ticket. Next up as you have a car I would visit "Buckfast Abbey" in Buckfastleigh, this is a beautiful Abbey with Beautiful Gardens that say "Please walk on the Grass" rather than the normal Keep of the Grass and has a nice cafe and sometimes you can see the Monks walking around or hear them inside the Abbey singing with the Abbey Organ Pipes that sound wonderful. Next up train from Torquay to Exeter around 30 minutes, this train goes right along the coast where the sea is on one side and land the other and goes through a couple of short tunnels, it's well worth the trip and make sure you Exit at Exeter Central which will put you wright in the Centre of Exeter where you can visit St Peters Cathedral another amazing Building and also take a walk down to Exeter Quay Side where you will find nice cafes and craft shops in the Arches, Next up "Woodlands Theme Park" another car drive around 40 minuets, This is a Great place for the children as they have loads of rides etc... and mainly for children and their best part is the Animal Petting area where the children can go and touch the animals and when new Lambs are born they can bottle feed them! Next up "Go Ape" Halden Forest 25 minuets from Torquay, they have Zip Slides through the Forest and you can hire bikes to do a family bike trail or try out one of their "Segway Two Wheel" things, And Last but not least while in Torquay visit " Kents Cavern" It has great history and tails of Smugglers using the caves to bring thing into the country hundreds of years ago via the Beach. and you will actually go into the Caves to see this. This is Just some of the things to do so I'll stop there, but if you want anymore Ideas I would love to give you some more as this list is just the start. Hope you and all your Family do return to Torquay and you know the place to stay and have a great time. Best Regards Kev Torquay xx

@@BrianKitching-wv5nh hi Brian Was pretty deep but I can't remember exactly how deep. I don't think it had a very shallow end I'm 6 foot and I think the deepest life would cover me Can't be sure though 😄 Are you thinking of visiting this hotel?

@@TheMalcolms7It was.I remember dad stopped at Lutterworth for petrol and tea and coffee and something to eat as well as the necessary comfort breaksHe stopped at a garage with a Gregs attatched sohe got a coffee and a hot bacon sandwich ,i got a soft drink with a sausage sandwich. If you need to go again, try the LangstoneCliff hotel in DawlishWarren, they are very child friendly, its food is brilliant, everything is made on the premises, its a little bit pricey but for a special treat its so very much worth it.Check it out. Best Wishes Brian

@@BrianKitching-wv5nh that's sounds nice. We used to stay at hotels quite often for my wife and I but these days the price of hotels even here in the UK is so expensive not to mention the cost of living. It has really put a damper on our family weekend getaways.
