A Brooklyn mother is speaking out after JetBlue Airways forced her and her six children off a plane this week when her 2-year-old daughter refused to wear a mask.
"I was shaken," Chaya Bruck said. "My kids started crying. They didn't know what was going on."
Passengers on the Orlando-to-Newark flight stood up for the family, asking those around them to bombard customer service.
The 39-year-old Bruck was heading home from a family vacation in Florida Wednesday. Everyone in her party was wearing the mandatory masks, except her young daughter.
"She never wore masks this entire few months," she said. "I would never make her wear a mask, She's a baby."
Bruck said three crew members told her she had to put a mask on her daughter, and one of them happened to be on her outbound flight and had told her the same thing. JetBlue requires masks for all passengers ages 2 and up.

I don't know the impacts of their decisions concerning COVID-19 spreading, but I do know that other countries are not as bad off as the U.S. even while their people are travelling. Also, if you were including the other passengers in your question when you mentioned "people," those other passengers could be on business trips, trips to see family, etc. Not all of them were on vacation, I think it's safe to say. I would say that taking a roadtrip instead would have been a better option, but again, I don't know her reasoning.

JetBlue is a great airline. The flight attendants were doing their jobs following policy to protect themselves and everyone onboard. The child could be carrying the virus and be asymptomatic. The mother’s words were she would never force the child to wear a mask because she is just a baby. So she has never made sure that the child wore a mask, therefore it becomes difficult to make the child wear it on the plane. It is her responsibility to train her child if not only to follow the rules but for the safety of her child and others around.

@cevaiom Pure ignorance that I don't even know why I'm replying to. Maybe for the fun of it. My dear, look up the definition of "asymptomatic" before commenting It means, "without symptoms". It does NOT mean "without the virus". What science has told us so far is that you can be a carrier for 2 weeks & be asymtomatic, & PASS IT TO OTHERS. "Kids" is a word with a broad definition. You should know that too. The CDC does have an age limit, & I believe companies can elect to use the laws that govern in their state if they are stricter. (I'm not sure of that, but I think so.) So you really need to do your research & fact checking before you reply. And, your version of the death rate is very likely untrue since I've seen the numbers & it's not what you said. AND....The most ignorant statement that you made was for saving the best for last. If you think that it's no big deal since "only 2% of the people die from it", see how you feel when you get it! Then you'll probably be in with the people that used to think that it's not so bad, then suffered through it & changed their minds. Look up the symptoms & how long it lasts for God's sake! Rob Carson it would be very simple, yet very effective, to boycott said business, and additionally compel _others_ to boycott said business, until such time that the business *either* reverses their decision to impose mask wearing, *or* substantiates a VERIFIABLY valid reason, to require the wearing of masks. So far, NOTHING has made itself apparent to validate this imposition. Therefore, there can exist in my own mind (and the minds of those who _also_ are left without satisfactory answers), the ever increasing will, to move toward other modus' of commerce, which exclude the businesses which compel mask wearing to its sustainers (ie customers). Because of the likelihood that an increasing number of individuals may become weary at wearing a piece of fabric over their face in order to "conduct business" - without a substantive forthcoming reason - customers will likely begin moving toward online commerce...which could be disastrous for us as a civilization - because that would mean that *even MORE* of our privacy - which we possess so little of nowadays _anyway_ - will be FURTHER deprived of us. We won't have the option to *choose* made available to us. The answer may *NOT* necessarily be as simple as you make it seem. The consequences could be very insidious indeed.

Jet Blue's rules say that 2 year-olds & above must wear masks. Most rules like this that I know of are data-driven. Kids this age will have trouble with this because between the ages of 2-5, they are developing self-regulation skills. So patience is key. However, the parents could be doing a better job at teaching the child to wear a mask. I live in NYC. We were once the epicenter. I remember taking a city bus where I saw a father publicly reprimanding his child for removing his mask. This is new & uncomfortable to many, but the kids must be taught. It's not about personal or political beliefs. The proof is in the numbers.

I agree. And she's really putting herself & her entire family out there & open to all sorts of negative criticism. She's humiliated? Not a smart move to protect her family. Instead it's putting them in the way of more embarrassment. I think she's more humiliated that she got her family kicked off a plane because her daughter wasn't listening to her. That will always embarrass parents.

This is ridiculous. 2 year olds are WAY too young to understand to keep their masks on. When we were flying both of my kids at age 2,5 were screaming because they had to be buckled up at landing.
