It's sad that so many people put Jaleel into a box saying that he was one dimensional and that they only wanted to see him as Urkel and no one else when he clearly was a genius at being an actor. Being Stefan gave Jaleel a chance to show the world that Urkel was just a character and it didn't define who he really was. His acting was so amazing that by something as simple as just changing his voice, facial expressions, and posture. .how this immediately made him look like a completely different person. .with or without the glasses. Shows in the 90's just hit different.

How did the role of Steve Urkel ruin his acting career? did he say?
@metalspinda9594 Жыл бұрын
@@myrkrormr You know how Brad Duriff is WORLD famous for his EPIC SCREAMS of pain in his MOST beloved role of Charles Lee Ray in the Child's play movies and ONLY that? Ever heard of an aspiring Rapper named Exibit and how people DIDN'T care about his music once he started doing the reality show "Pimp my Ride"? Show business and the consumers involved can be very fickle and box-oriented in it. If an actor or showman/musician achieves celebrity status due to a PARTICULAR role, it can become a double edged sword. Jonny Depp and Jim Carry were ALMOST turned into "Pretty Boy only" role people. But After Crybaby and Once Bitten respectively, Jonny Depp DEMOLISHED his pretty boy reputation with the Halloween classic, Edward Sizzorhands and Jim Carry did "Earth Girls Are Easy", which broke peoples initial takes on them by showing that they were MORE than just a "Given Role". Those two had a range. An acting range can be difficult and scary to try to prove that you have in Tinsel Town, but it DOES separate you from those who ONLY are remembered for ONE routine or role! Some people out there ACTUALLY think Jaleel White's REAL name IS "Steve Urkle"! THAT's how Mr. White "ruined" his career, by not distinguishing himself beyond Family Matters and letting a Gimmick take his career OVER!

Family Matters was always interesting in the sense it was 3 different shows. Part 1 and season 1 was about Carl vs his mother and that show would have been canceled way sooner and was the worst of the 3. Part 2 was the Steve Urkel show where he was the main character of the show. This was the height of the shows popularity. Part 3 was focused more on the family with Steve still coming around and I would consider this the best personally.

With this much range in acting skill and improv I’m surprised Jaleel was never a cast member on SNL, he would have killed it lmao

Sometimes I wonder what it would have been like had Steve found a way for him to be both himself and Stefan at the same time, but as one combined person. By that, I mean, he still intelligent, creative, inventive, and dorky like Steve, yet cool charming and suave like Stefan

There was that season 10 that never happened
@SuperMarioBrosIII11 ай бұрын
@@Knightfall-Batman Yes, this would have happened if season 10 had been greenlit by CBS. The season would have opened with the death of Stefan Urquelle. Stefan suddenly becomes ill. Steve traces it back to his cloning machine and discovers that the results aren't permanent. Stefan is with Laura and the Winslows as he fades away and his cool and suave blend back into Steve giving him a deeper voice and more mature appearance. 🤔📺📼🙏

Fun fact: Jaleel was just about to retire from being a child actor before family matters, because he didn't want to do it anymore. His agent convinced him to atleast just try out for the part. The rest is history. That's why I don't get why he is so resentful nowadays about being type casted and held back from showing what he can really do, when he was about to stop doing it anyways. Urkel made him relevant. I loved Steve urkel he was one of a kind. I Did not care much for "Stephon UrKel" he reminded too much of too many people.

The Steve/ Stefan era was one of the best concepts in tv history. As I’m older I realized Steve was such an underrated genius that he literally split his personality. That’s major quantum mechanics/physics!!!!!!
