Your family reminds me of me growing up in a family of 8 kids. I can relate to hungry growing people. All their activities make them hungry. I had a ravenous appetite growing up. I can relate to the boys helping them selves to second and third helpings. It reminds me of my older brother with an empty plate wanting seconds. Lining up at the stove. lol. Waiting for a second helping. The food is so delicious because it is all good hearty food. Real food. I don't blame you for buying the kids a slice of pizza once a week at the store. And, a donut here and there. You are in New York after all. I bet there is a million restaurants to try and it takes time to get around. I just like your cooking sessions. You guys know how to cook. Cornflakes was the only cereal when I was a kid. It was either that or puffed wheat. I grew up in the 70's. At least they get one pick of treats each shopping trip. That's a good idea. My Dad would buy a giant box of aero root biscuits and that was our cookie supply for the week. I love aero root cookies. Cookies don't last long with growing kids. I'm glad you balance it out with hoe cooked meals every day.

I don’t understand many things, why not buy Costco gas, it’s so much cheaper. Maybe NY doesn’t have gas stations at their Costco? Why not shop with two carts instead of having stuff nearly fall out of the cart, then Melody could also ride in the cart, not so many little ones under foot. And you could each have half the list divided according to how the store is laid out, you’d be quicker and always make your parking time limit. And get done so much quicker. And they buy things at Trader Joe’s that I’d think are cheaper at Costco. I love them and love watching them, I just have questions.

Not that you have an endless money supply - but perhaps you could get a small chest style or stand-up freezer that you could squeeze into the kitchen or living area. I've even seen some that people have put one on their back porches if you have something you could make-shift into an overhang. Even a dorm-size fridge would help in your situation. It could go anywhere you have a bit of floor space and store things on top of it. Just thinking. LOL xo

Amber and Marc, I bet the two of you wish you could have a big home so you could make a lot of the things Sarah and Solo make. Like the homemade breads, yogurt, things like that. I know you have said you want to do that Amber. Kind of hard to do in an apartment with 10 kids. I see Naomi went to Trader Joes with you this time. She's probably thinking, I'll go so I can pick the things out to make. She is always making so many different things. Good going Naomi!!! Amber and Marcs date night store shopping. 🤗

Have you tried shopping at Aldi nextdoor to the costco to save money on groceries??
@TheHappyCaravan Жыл бұрын
Yes! It doesn’t have much as far as produce for some reason. Most of the middle of the store is disposable plates and things like throw pillows. I know most ALDIs have more in them. Now that Target is gone I’m hoping they’ll get more food!🙌🏼❤️ shoplifting is a real problem so maybe they keep it sparse on purpose.

I'm from Germany and I'm a bit shocked about the costs of some products, especially fruits and vegetables. I've seen several episodes when you all do grocery hauls and I can say it is quite expensive. Here most of the fruits and vegetables costs less than half. Are the prices we can see on the shelves inclusive of taxes (VAT)?
@TheHappyCaravan Жыл бұрын
In the USA food isn’t taxed, but paper and cleaning products are taxed. Grateful there’s no tax on food because yes it is already expensive!
@cnk2hoo Жыл бұрын
Costco tends to have higher prices than typical grocery stores in my area. And some states (like mine) do have to pay taxes on food, but still not typically included on shelf prices. I noticed an aldi on the sign where the Costco is, so would be super curious what NY aldi prices look like. Likely much lower.
