(Meal Plan Below ⬇️) This week dad and the 4 of the kids are shopping for our weekly groceries and for New Year's Day dinner food. Our roast cost $128! I guess that's why we rarely eat a roast lol!
Here is our meal plan for this week:
Wednesday: Pesto, Dinner: Barefoot Contessa Corn Chowder & Bread
Thursday: Charcuterie Board, Dinner: Lentils & Rice & Sautine Concombre
Friday: Tuscan Pane Pizza, Dinner: Tuesday Chicken, Peas, Rice, & Salad w/ homemade Ranch
Saturday: Sandwiches, Grapes, Juice & Chips, Dinner: Burritos
Sunday: Chicken Ole Caserolle, Dinner: (New Year's Eve) Chipotle Burritos w/ chips & Guacamole
Monday: New Year's Day! Breakfast: Waffles, Strawberries, Whipped Cream, Sausage & Eggs, Dinner: Rib Roast, Asparagus, Baked Potatoes, Spring Salad & Cookies for dessert
Tuesday: (Shopping Day) Bean Burritos, Dinner: Costco Food

We dont have BJ's or trader joes in canada. There are bulk stores I wish we had! We do have costco but our selection is quite limited compared to the USA

A simple salad of green leaf, finely sliced red onion and parmesan cheese grated or shaved and with optional toasted pine nuts with any non creamy dressing is always a big hit. A lemon vinaigrette or something a tad acidic is always the best option as it softens the onion.

Looks good! I’m coming on my annual trip to NYC with my mum at the end of January from the UK I always watch your vlogs and we even go up the same trader joes. I like some of their snacks to bring home plus I love their pretzel mini baguettes. You cant really get them over here so it’s a much beloved snack of mine. We think it might be our 30th visit in 2024. Mostly mum and I but a couple of times with friends but I love spending time with mum best. Might see you guys on one of your adventures 😊

Because she lets the have treats occasionally but also gives them healthy options. Kids need balance like the rest of us. Kids are only picky because parents allow it. They fix them something else when they won’t eat what you cooked or only give them chicken nuggets and French fries so that is all they will eat. Sure kids have likes and dislikes with food but sometimes it’s because parents teach them certain things are yucky or such.

You can actually make your own buttermilk for a lot less money. All you need is milk and vinegar or lemon juice. 1/2 cup milk + 1 1/2 teaspoons lemon juice or white vinegar. Let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes and you’re good to go.

The roast are all the same. Th3 bone wasn't trimmed off. So more flavors a ribeye is just to rib roast trimmed and slice. If you have a sharp nice trim it ourself and andnuse the scraps as broth or that nee fancy bone marrow. 4th generation butcher here.

I saw a sign for Aldi in the beginning of the video. Have you ever tried shopping there? You may be able to save some money. I know adding another store may be too much.

We’ve tried going there a couple of times but it’s a small store with mostly paper products and a limited amount of grocery items. I think because shoplifting is such a problem in the area. Our Target next to it was also closed because of shoplifting. Thankfully Costco has a lot more security built into the shopping experience.

If you’re making pesto you can sub almonds or walnuts or even pistachios for the pine nuts and not have to eat sub par Chinese pine nuts and save money! I love these shorter shopping videos. Your kids are great helpers.

It’s easy to make your own granola and you don’t even have to watch it in the oven nephew just roast the rolled oats with a little bit of oil and honey in a slow cooker when it’s finished just add whatever you want
