Family Owned +60 Year Old Restaurant: Are These The Best INTESTINES In Vietnam!?

Just a typical day exploring for some STREET FOOD in SAIGON!!
Always with my buddy Tim going out to find the best eats around Saigon. We started today off up in the north as we went for some sticky rice and chicken. But this isn’t your normal xoi ga, this place is frying up huge chunks up chicken and coating it in a drippings, nouc mam, and sugar syrup! However, even with the delicious chicken that doesn’t mean the rice was lacking. The perfect texture, not too sweet, and loaded with an assortment of goodies!
Next up Tim and I went for a sweet treat, cacao coconut. A coconut and cream shake loaded with a topping of cacao. This cheap and sweet treat is perfect for any afternoon when needing to beat the heat in Saigon. Lots of texture from the shredded coconut and overall everything you want in a afternoon in Saigon.
Lastly, we went for a huge meal, deep in Chinatown. Almost all the way to district 6, we found a place where the owner was even surprised we showed up. This place has been open for over 60 years, family run, and to this day still making absolutely delicious foods.

Have you tried bò nhúng dấm or vingar beef hot pot? It's a hot pot spring roll. The broth base is vinegar but my grandpa and uncles added a can or bottle of beer in it. It's a great drinking food. I can remember grandpa back in the day would have his friends over and the floor was filled with condiments and veggies. When they added the beer to the pot and it cooked off the beer a bit. It was delicious. The rolls are dipped in the mam Tom,pineapple, chili, and sugar sauce but I've seen people use the regular nouc mam too. Another something I've haven't seen other Viet food tubers do. I like your channel Max and your embracing of our food. Anyone who tastes mam tom straight up and likes it, is my brother. 😂 Just thinking of different foods that other KZbinrs have not made videos on to give you a little edge. Take care bro.

My house is right behind the alley behind the “xoi ga” store. Before we came to the U.S I always walk there and bought xoi ga to eat lol. Their xoi ga is the best!!!!!! Although it’s a little expensive but it’s always worth it whenever we buy!

My perspective. VN cuisines differentiate to others by offering Liquids: Broths, dipping sauces. These liquids would make or break the name of an eatery. Dip, dbl deeps the sauce, not enough, order more free of charge. In fact, most if not all side dishes (greens, herb, sauce,... are free together with a gls of iced tea) I'd start with a pick of sour vegie/salad/pickled/shredded carrot ... the sour taste spurs my saliva gland bring up my appetite & also help digest food. That's what saliva biologically for. 1 of the shortcomings of Chinese food is that it offers only cheap tea (my due, free of charge) I would order a green Special Saigon Bia (pronounced as Beer, since Bia was Vietnamised word for Beer) no ice (that dilute my beer) to rinse my mouth & refresh my taste. Doesn't matter how good is the food, after having it for 3 - 5 minutes, your palate & tongue would get dull. A gulp of beer, a sip of wine, or a pick of sour would sharpen you taste. I'm a Kinh (a mainstream Viet, I respect 53 other brother/sister ethnics) but our VNmese has a weird trait: Smiling at whatever, not only for happy occasions, but also when they are sad, or being scorned by other, the same as they enjoy things then smiling. I've been trying to drop this habit, but it dies hard. I don't mean to insult others at their faux pas by my big ugly smile. However, that habit always takes over me. When I'm in a deep shhirt, I smile first and think of how to get out off it or lie down 2nd So, tourists, when you travel in VN & find yourself in awkward situation & some locals smile at you, they'r not mocking birds. In many case, we found curious, amused, & strange sort of endearment & wish to help a cute stranger out. Despite the war we call Americans as Người Mỹ (Mỹ = Beauty, Người Mỹ= Beautiful persons)

Is it weird to say watching a foreigner's video makes me love the city I've lived in for >20 years even more? My friend from out of town once told me (when they show me some good food around their hometown) that they don't think Saigon have anything called specialty but your videos proved the opposite. Saigon just has so so many amazing things especially when we talk about food, so much to explore even for locals like me. Saigon has so much to offer, I feel ashamed and guilty for not defending Saigon when I heard someone talking bullshit about it.
