I have a similar question to Deborah. I know you talk about movement shots/walking shots with older kids and I have tried holding down my back-button focus button while my client is walking towards me, but I cannot get the camera to focus and stay focused on the face. I also use a 50mm and typically shoot around 2.8 or 3.0

For walking shots, you can try focusing with back button, snapping a few, then refocusing and snapping every couple of steps. I also have them walk very slowly.

What lens do you use when shooting these sessions? I use a 50mm on my Canon but I find that it does get the person face super sharp unless I get close to them. But for full body shots and such I find the 50 isn't getting super clear. I've watched you video on how to get tack sharp photos several times...and I've been practicing doing all those things so I thought it might have to do with the lens?

I use an 85mm 1.4 on pretty much every session! It’s got image stabilization on it so that helps with sharpness. What aperture are you shooting at usually?

Increase Shutter speed 1/250 and Aperture to 2.2 or 2.8
