I can't count the number of times watching this show that I thought "I would've been smacked for that" with the way Willie and Buddy spoke to their parents and if we ever dared drink out of the bottle be it milk or juice look out!

@@pjpredhomme7699 Yes, it did. I learned to be respectful toward others especially my elders. I got a good education and worked in the field of education for 31 years. I'm now retired and living the good life. Thanks for asking.

All 3 of the kids were disrespectful spoiled brats. I don't believe in corporal punishment, but the least Kate and Doug could have done would've been to apply some deprivation discipline- take away freedoms and/or possessions for a given time.

I love their Tudor style house. That neighborhood is still so beautiful. 👍🏽💯🤗

Thank you for these quality uploads!! I rarely like many TV series but this one I was addicted to. Outstanding acting by all as well as the stories.

As someone who has insanely written 26 novels on blue-lined paper with Flair felt-tipped pens, the sight of Willie banging away on that potmetal manual typewriter makes my blood run cold. There but for the grace of God go I...

Great episode. I always liked Gary Frank. Too bad he stopped acting over 20 years ago.

I agree. I loved Willie’s voice. Had he continued to act, he would’ve been brilliant.

@lorianne4608 I wrote my comment over 3 years ago! Since then, I joined the "Family" group on Facebook and Gary Frank joined a couple of years ago and he answers questions about the show. I just met him at a dinner in LA with Kristy McNichol last month. He's such a nice guy. I even got to tour the house in Pasadena with Gary where they filmed all the exterior shots for the show and we had a picnic lunch in the backyard with his wife and a few other people!

Willie is a total PITA in this episode. It’s all about him. “I wanna drop out of high school.” “I don’t wanna interview for that job.” “They took my typewriter!” “I have to go to the farm to finish my manuscript.” He really deserved his father’s wrath in this one. “You and mom don’t trust me enough to…” Seriously, Willie? Even 12 year olds remember to lock up when they leave the house! 😮

The scene where Buddy and Willie are sitting on his car hood eating ice cream, while waiting for their dad, looks like it was filmed at the Southeast corner of the intersection of Mound Ave. and Mission St. in South Pasadena. The large beige building which was on the Northwest corner in 1976 was the old City Hall, which was demolished. The beige building on the Southwest corner visible in the background behind Buddy and Willie has been remodeled, but still has the side entrance stairwell visible over Buddy’s left shoulder at 9:05. The building’s address is 1427 Mission St. and is now a Pediatric Dentist’s office.

I totally Kate is always in Willies side and not the dad BUT yet Kate is hella tough in Nancy and the dad lets Nancy get away with everything. Typical family dynamics.

Great show. But sometimes superficial talk about "good looks". Like this is the most important trait a person must have to be worth of anything or desirable.

9:25 NO ONE is wearing a seatbelt.
@user-mj8nf2vp7q3 жыл бұрын
Welcome to the 70's. In some vehicle makes, the seatbelts were installed but not accessible unless a mechanism covering them was "unbolted." In other words seatbelts were optional. Neither of my Grandmother's had their seatbelts "connected" until state law mandated it in the mid -80's & balked at the inconvenience. 👍🏽💯🤗

We never wore seatbelts. My mom had a Pinto hatchback and she would drive with the door open while we laid face first out the back of it. 😂
