@@SDaulton sorry, somehow I missed your message. My oldest two (13, 11) had their own books and it was super sweet to see their responses. I actually tore some pages out to keep in their memory books. But this could definitely be done as a family with one book, especially if your kids are younger.

Have you ever looked into Character Concepts by the Boyer Family? The author of the For you they signed is Marylin Boyer - she has amazing parenting advice in her Character Concepts channel. I have been so blessed by their resources - a LOT of character training, and a lot of history, even a lot of audio books. I feel not many people use them and is SO sad because I know we can learn so much. The latest video has a ton of practical advice on how to shepherd our our children’s hearts.

Hello, this is my first year homeschooling and I am also a “new believer”. We are currently using TGTB curriculum and have enjoyed it. I knew I made the right decision to homeschool when his curriculum had him memorize a poem about God and he asked if he was even allowed to say God. My son is 10 and I have now realized/wished I started earlier. However, my question to anyone here is how do I teach my son about religion if 1. I’m still learning myself and 2. if he is constantly rebelling against it? I don’t want to force or push to hard because I feel that he would just rebel more but also he will never learn about God if he refuses to listen. I have tried using the Action Bible since he loves comic books and it’s available to him at all times but I can’t even get him to open it. He is finally comfortable saying and hearing text about God when it comes up in his curriculum and he showed a interest in the Story of David and Goliath when I brought it up (I didn’t mention it was a story from the Bible until the end otherwise he wouldn’t of wanted to hear it) and he said he liked the story but still refuses to listen to any others. Does anyone have recommendations or advice to find a way to teach him while I’m still learning myself? Anything is welcome.

I’m also a new believer and recently switching a lot of curriculum over to TGATB. But, we’re also doing an actual bible curriculum as well. When my kids are older I plan on doing the Not Consumed study guides for the YWAM missionary books, other bible studies, and a lot of the resources Ashlee has shared before. BUT for now what we are loving (and I am learning SO much) is the homeschool edition of the Answers in Genesis bible curriculum. It’s what they teach in Sunday school, but formatted for homeschool. (Answers in Genesis is who does Masterbooks, the Ark Encounter, etc) There will be 4 years, going chronologically through the Bible. The first 2 years (Genesis-Joseph and Moses-Hosea) are out now with year 3 coming out soon. There is a teachers guide you read (with extra info for us) as well as worksheets and tests. There is K-1, 2-3 and 4-5. Even if you didn’t do the worksheets but just used the teachers guide as a read aloud, I think it would be a great addition. It has you read scripture (as in, pull out your Bible or pull up your Bible app) as you go through it. You could easily expand upon it all and add in extra bible studies, but for us, it’s providing a great foundation - making things make sense with the details and the big picture!
@mama-at-home2 жыл бұрын
Also - use this summer to get him involved in church. He either can still attend VBS or volunteer, and could soon go to a middle school summer camp with the church and/or attend youth group. I think seeing other kids (boys, especially) his age excited about God will let him be more comfortable. My son is only 7.5 but he loves watching Superbook and shows like ‘The Wild Brothers’. On my list is also to read the Pilgrim’s Progress (there’s different versions). Another thing I’ve noticed/heard is to make it a point of having your kids see YOU read the Bible and speak about God. My son knows I’m a new believer and I think that makes it more accessible for him. Praying for you!

Hey 👋🏽 Wondering if you have ever or would ever consider doing (and charging for) phone consults for homeschool mamas like myself who have questions and need guidance, advice, etc, that is too much to do via KZbin comments? I’ve probably watched at least 50 of your videos in the last 6 to 9 months and I have often thought, if only I could have a phone consult with you for like an hour and I could ask you more in-depth questions to certain things you covered that I’m struggling to get guidance on. You definitely have very specific strengths as a homeschool mama and some of them happen to be in areas that I am not as strong; and I just think it would be so incredibly beneficial to be able to chat with you for just a little bit and ask you some of my questions. I know that there’s a couple KZbin homeschool mamas who do occasionally do phone consult but I don’t remember who they are or how to even find them 😆. However you’re one of my all-time faves so I would prefer to chat with you if at all possible. It’s totally OK if it’s a no, I just thought I would at least ask. Thanks so much for being such a blessing to so many of us! ♥️

They have a new science curriculum called ‘little hearts and hands’ - the first of 3 is already out now (field and flowers, I think it’s called) - but I’ve also heard you could do the new science with younger ages and just adapt the work
