Gorgeous album Katja. It's nice to see an album with photos inside. You have arranged them so thoughtfully. It's given me lots of good ideas. Thank you!

This is delightful! I'm curious, those photos are extremely glossy. Were they commercially printed/reprinted or have a finish allied to them? Like so many of us, I have a lot of photos - over 100 year's span, so there is a great variety of photo finishes and papers and I'm wondering what to do. The same finish would look very nice!

+Kathleen Roush Hi Kathleen, thank you for the compliment! :-) I had these pictures commercially printed from digital originals, you know, just go to an online picture printing vendor, or even to your local supermarket (as I have). In the Netherlands a glossy finish is the standard for commercial printing. Commercially printed pictures are always best imho, for their colors will hardly fade over the years, whereas the quality of your own (inkjet-printed) prints is usually a lot less. Unless, perhaps, you own a fairly high-end inkjet printer or a laser printer (which I don't). Hope this helps! Thanks again, Katja

Thank you! I used to have a much better printer but it was lost in a lightning storm - power went out and back on in a surge. :/ I think that having them commercially done would be a good idea. Then there is the adjusting them, which I can get lost in! I have worked on a lot of old family photos - it feels like I've gotten to know them by spending so much time on those photos!

+Kathleen Roush I know what you mean! I've done an ancestry album with pictures of my father's side of the family, with pictures of about 90-100 years ago :-) Perhaps you'll find it inspiring to see what I made of that: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aqKaqHR5gruSibs Anyway, have fun crafting your family album! ~ Katja

Thank you for the link! I was talking to one of my daughters today and just figuring out what I want to do is a big part of it. I have hundreds, probably thousands... of photos altogether. What I've been trying to figure out was the thought of the kids - and my brother - and how to make sense of it all. She said to just do what I want and let it go with that. I had computer problems and my real info is locked into files I need software to open, and I cannot find that disk! I keep looking, and have accumulated boxes of disks! I love making minis and am thinking that might be what needs to be done for the old photos. The ones of us since we got married and all of the kids Whew! One thing at a time!
