Family White Water Rafting Trip near Ottawa with Owl Rafting

Recently my family and I went white water rafting for the first time. We had a blast! My husband doesn't swim and wouldn't normally go in the water but he was a trooper and came on this trip with us. We picked the gentle family option. It was fun enough for the adventurers in the family (the girls) and tame enough for the boys.
We went with Owl Rafting in Ottawa. They have fantastic safety measures in place. Only immediate family members in a boy and the guide is 6ft away. Everything was well organized and felt very safe. The staff were friendly. We had a great time!

Yes, we're trying to find safe activities to do together away from the house. We're all going a little stir crazy. Luckily we found a company that was being super safe. We saw other companies on the river with packed boats. No thank you! I feel very lucky that my kids love each other so much. They are very close.

Funny how the weather sometimes does that (always rains at night). Luckily you had nice days. I never minded being in the tent when it rained as long as it didn’t leak!

Will you go into the water? Before we had kids my husband would only go in up to his waist. Now he'll go in up to his chest but doesn't like it. Luckily he felt comfortable because he was wearing a life jacket.

Hi Laura my name is also Aunt Laura and have you ever been to Onondaga Lake in Syracuse NY? Well don't actually go in that lake but when you pull in the parking lot where the Salt Museum is across from the Retreat past the purple building and art craft place you can enjoy a free tram ride taking you up and down the lake all day ...and it's one of those sanctuary cities too!

I haven't been to Onondaga Lake but we do go to Syracuse normally twice a year so we'll have to check it out the next time we go. :)

When I went white water rafting in Lechworth park in NY years ago....... the water 💦 was flowing slow which made the journey long and exhausting. I was starved at the end. Bet you guys were tired after this.

We were SO hungry and we barely had to do any paddling. My friend went with one company and she said they had to paddle a lot. In our boat, the guide did most of the work. But still, we were on the river for six hours so we were super hungry by the end.

@@OurBergLife I know the feeling..... unfortunately the day we went the water flow was low and slow. So we had to paddle and carry the raft a lot. I never felt so exhausted and physically drained as well as hungry. It was an experience.

Oh, and I had insubordinate paddlers... no guide on this boat just three of us. I would paddle so hard and turn around and see two grown men just enjoying the ride... grrrrrr. lol

I don't know why, but I'm laughing with you here. :D I think it was Fireese's laugh. :D 4:08 I'm guessing it's part of the package with them, but it's so cool you go footage of you all from the shore's viewpoint, too. How was the water? I'm guessing it's freezing? The first splash must have been jolting. :D

I love that shot of Fireese laughing, it's so pure. The water actually wasn't that cold. It was cold at first but then beautiful once you got in. Fireese got her PADI certification this summer and the place we went was freezing! It was beautiful but freezing. Google Tobermory Ontario
