Besides raising our own children,.. we opened our home to several “teen to young adult” children (some were family). You never know what’s going on in one’s mind,..not even in your own Childrens minds sometimes. It’s such a horrific and sad situation all the way around.💔
@Duffeyfam42 жыл бұрын
This is a person who suffers from mental/emotional illness. What happened was absolutely horrific, no one is diminishing that. However, this child needed serious, serious help that went unanswered. Look at him as the person with a challenge that he is. I personally do not for one second believe he knew the consequences for his actions. I see a young man who was so emotionally and mentally tortured he snapped and lashed out. Like the straw that broke the camels back he just for whatever reason could not contain the pain and rage built up inside. Does that excuse his actions absolutely NOT! Does that mean he should not be punished? NO he should however, he STILL needs help serious help!! Why did it take something like this to happen? I have a daughter with Autism they can exhibit major mood swings and act out.Especially boys. When I ask my daughter what is bothering her many times she cannot put into words what is bothering her until we take a lot of time to figure it out. It sounds to me this person did not have that luxury which should not be a luxury at all. It should be considered a necessity to all kids not just the challenged. How sad is it that he thinks he deserves to die? That living somehow is worse than death! Doesn't that speak volumes? Many challenged kids despite what ppl. think can sense when you are going through the motions of being kind. Would you want ppl to do that to you? Pretend to care when in reality you are just doing it out of a sense of obligation or worse to seek recognition for "doing a good deed". What he did is an unspeakable horrific act, tbt if I were the parent of one of the children lost I would want him to suffer the pain he inflicted on my family too. That is, if I didn't know he had a mental challenge. This person is literally like a lamb being led to the slaughter. Look at him!! If you could see beyond the hatred that rightfully anyone would have, You'd see a lost little boy not truly comprehending what is happening. All he knows is he did a very bad thing and from what I can see cannot really cope with the gravity of it. He is facing this alone..... again he is alone in a world that doesn't make sense to him. People are really cruel in his eyes. I pray for everyone because truth is everyone involved in this is a victim. Everyone involved feels dead inside, especially this young man. If only ppl could look beyond the rage and take this tragedy and turn it into a triumph. Let's ensure that Guns can never be placed in the hands of a person who could potentially do something like this! Let's not just medicate & push these kids through a school system for the funds the school can obtain for them. We need to truly come up with a curriculum that can actually help them mentally physically and most impotantly emotionally . With the amount of kids being diagnosed with emotional and cognitive issues this is everyone's problem to roll up the sleeves to try and correct. Lets not tolerate discrimination against ANYONE! That doesnt mean to shame and blame another. Rather be a light in thier life and help them to do what is right. Time and time again we have seen things like this happen and the common denominator seems to be the perpetrator was somehow bullied or tortured and NO ONE came to be beside them. With that being said, I was that bullied, tortured kid yet never once did I think of doing something like this. However, I also grew up in a home ( broken as well) but still united in love and faith. My faith is truly what has carried me through challenges beyond comprehension. My heart truly, truly breaks for every single person involved in this they are ALL victims. I chose to stop feeling like a victim and become victorious on my journey. My heart and prayers go out to each and every parent suffering great loss I know saying I'm sorry really means nothing so I offer a virtual ✋️ to hold for a lifetime why? Most people will move on and yet you will do your best to The truth is like it or not this has forever changed your life. There will be days you will find Joy again embrace those days you deserve them. Do not be ashamed to have them . Your sons ans daughters would not want you to stop living. They would want you to live, live for them, honor thier memory by enjoying life as they would have. I will share this in the hope it brings you peace and hope as that is my only wish by sharing this. I had a near death experience when I was perceived dead I never felt more love, peace and joy than I did during that time. Mere words cannot give it justice. As I watched from above my body, all I wanted was to convey to my loved ones to not cry or suffer because I felt the best I ever had . I came from a very loving family. This love was different though it was so pure abundant ans engulfing such a beautiful feeling. I hope and pray this brings a little peace to your day. I will be praying for all of you not just in this moment but for the rest of my days because that is what I would want ppl to do for me. I know the hardest thing for you to do is to forgive but in order for you to truly live again you will need to forgive. Also, please don't harbor guilt about what you did or did not say your loved ones are still with you they simply just changed their address. They still know your heart beats for them. God Bless all of you. I pray this post helps the. Families and the peep. To turn this around and make this senseless act be the light of change so that we can stop repeating the pain that comes from feelings of neglect,bullying, discrimination and hate.

I could understand it. He was probably just putting on a impressionable act for them so he can stay with them by acting "normal", easily making them think that he was just a regular kid. You know how some people like to put on a impression to get people to believe they are what they want them to believe, hiding their true nature. He probably knew if he had shown his real side, he would have been kicked out in no time. So I empathize with them. Kid is def two faced for sure.

He claims he "thought" he had the only key to gun safe but according to him, at 5:30 he says he was there when the gun safe was purchased and at 6:16 his wife states that one of the rules that he "followed" was that he wasn't permitted to take the guns out when they weren't home. Now, maybe I'm reading into this too closely, but if you have the "only key", or at least THOUGHT that you did, then why is this rule necessary to begin with? Something is off here. I think they know a little more than they are letting on. I believe they were at the very least extremely careless. They knew they had a mentally unstable person living under their roof (took him to counseling just days prior) and they also knew he had an arsenal under that same roof. And based on their own words, I believe they knew he had unfettered access to that safe. Again, why in the hell would it be necessary to forbid him to have the weapons out when they were not home if he did not have access to them anyway? I wish the camera had cut to their attorney when she opened her mouth about that tid bit. Talk about a head-in-hands moment.

That bit got my attention too, but if looking for an innocent explanation, I thought maybe the parents didn't always take the gunsafe key with them when they went out. If they have 2 cars & 2 sets of keys, then likely the gun safe key was on the Dad's keychain. If they went out together in the Mum's car, presumably they would have taken her keys & left his keys at home in their keyholder, where he could have accessed it, but they assumed since he was so well behaved in their presence that he wouldn't do so

Most people understand how kind two people have to be to let their sons friend live with them. My parents are amazing and I highly doubt they would let one of my friends just come live with us and take care of them like their own even if they wanted to. It’s not an easy decision as a parent to do something like that, having your own kid is already hard and challenging enough and to take in someone whose not your own and clothe them, feed them, put up any expenses they may require is such a kind act. Do not blame these two for what happened. NC did this on his own and is solely his fault, he must fully take responsibility by himself and we can’t allow others to cast his blame upon others and ruin more people lives for his actions. I hope these two and their son find peace in their life one day.

Our family had a horrible experience fostering a child. That "foster child"? Left nothing but a wake of despair and destruction in our home. Terrorized. Is not an understatement. We'll never accept another foster child in our home for as long as we both live and breathe! I feel so much empathy for this couple. This isn't your fault! ❤️🇨🇦

Instead of putting so much emphasis on your "horrible experience" with a foster child, can you instead tell us what you did in an effort to help the child? Foster children often come from difficult or disadvantaged backgrounds and perhaps you were just not good enough to care for such a child.

@@Riana.dS. People have alot to say about the lives they've never led. You have no fkn idea how stupid you sound right now? If I was willing or judgmental like your pathetic ass? The whole scenario we went through positive and nor? You'd look like a complete ass right now. Hands down. Think you know? You don't have a fkn clue lady. @1:20, These two are talking about driving Nick to school, but he was expelled. He was a former student, but they are talking like he still goes to that School and it's the same School Their Son Goes to. No mention of Nicks Younger Brother who lived with them either. That's really weird.

This society needs to stop isolation of mental illness. It's important for adults and kids to get help to this person prior. Social media is dangerous for kids and promotes illness to an already hurt person.

I can understand that this family would not have known what Nikolas Cruz had planned all along, but when you take a kid into your home, who possesses numerous firearms, red flags are clearly visible! “I thought I was the only one to have the key to the gun safe”, does not sound very assuring!

I don’t let my kids’ friends wear their dirty sneakers in our house. I can’t imagine letting a teen come in with a bunch of guns and being like, “okay!” Man, y’all can’t even bring your dogs into my house.

These people are lucky that they are safe! They seem like good people. I feel terrible about what they must be feeling here in this interview, and again today during sentencing. I am glad that they feel betrayed--it will help them going forward, as they don't feel that they were to blame. And they aren't.

lalasam12345 I didn't state that. You did. This kid was in trouble a lot. The police knew him. He wrote about shooting up the school online with his name on it. His neighbors were freaked out by him. He had everything but a flashing light on his head.
