My stepdad has raised me since I was 7 years old. When I talk about him he's my dad, but I've never called him dad. My real dad hurt us and let us down, my step dad never would. As soon as I was 18 I legally took his surname. Blood doesn't define a relationship. He's the best dad I could ask for.

I didn’t realise it was Ava, I thought it was Eva, my mistake lol. I have to say you often look at Irish names and think how on earth do you say or even spell the name, with my name Siobhán I seem to get a lot of letters added or less, they aren’t easy. Very few would recognise the name as being Irish because it’s rare for a name to be like that in uk especially Cornwall. I love my name but hate that on a key chain you can never find your name unless your in Ireland, although I did find my surname which in Boyle in Scotland once as Boyle is Irish and Scottish

So with Mia calling Darren, dad and Darren I completely understand it! I’m adopted by aunt and uncle. I call my uncle dad when addressing him to my siblings/his children and then more so uncle when I’m addressing him. But honestly it’s whatever comes out first. It doesn’t mean I love him more as a “dad” than an “uncle” it’s just whatever comes out first.
