Y'know I was just listening to Cynthia's champion theme on a loop for the last couple of days because it's so great and all I was wondering was how would a rock/metal version of the theme sounded like because it would amazing. Wonderful work Jules :D One of my best memories as a kid was a really stupid strategy I used to beat Garchomp without an ice type or a super fast pokemon. I used my Rampardos with Focus Sash and Avalanche. Beating that fight after so long felt so good.

The crazy amount of distortion sounds so good I’m this, like geez it’s fits Cynthia so well and sounds both mysterious and intense. There are some weird alterations like the delayed intro I don’t quite understand, but for the most part the alterations made really for guitar. Another thing I thought was brilliant was the addition of the tap notes in the eerie chord that transitions from the main verse into the bass solo, it’s such a brilliant addition and really gives me distortion world vibes. Edit: Forgot to mention, the whammy dives were fantastic. They don’t sound quite right and it just adds to the atmosphere, it’s so tense.

Gather around grandchildren 👴 and let me tell you a tale of the trauma that accompanies this amazing song. It is said, that if you slow it down, the first 7 secs actually translates to, “let me show you exactly where you f*cked up.” It takes me back to the 2nd champion fight with Cynthia (in BDSP)…where I blindly (and foolishly) ran full speed into the E4 rematches (who also apparently have received super saiyan blue levels of power) and thought my ‘save right before’ technique would eventually pay off…but instead what ensued were FIVE STRAIGHT dreadful losses…filled with both rage, and amazement. Eventually I had to straight up take the L and fight all way through the E4 AGAIN, which I hadn’t done since literally Gen 1. My team who had been absolutely WRECKING any and everyone up to this point, was all of a sudden reduced to what felt like pre-evolved Pokemon. I couldn’t do anything but run with my tail between my legs because I was just flat out not in her league. No amount of items could save me from the dog walking I was receiving from that beautiful demon 🥴 And no, I chose not to watch any playthroughs of this game, to better preserve my own opinion about the controversial remake. This cover does this memory every bit of justice and I LOVE it. Everyone: “Literally nobody asked. Thanks for nothing.”
