I had not thought of using maternal descendants of brick wall ancestors. Interesting strategy that I will look into. I have one immigrant ancestor that we don’t really know where she is from but I do know some of the female line descendants. Thank you for the idea.

Well, this is great news. Maybe when these upgrades happen at FTDNA perhaps I can get something of value out of the mtDNA test. As it is right now it's practically worthless.

I'm in a similar case. My ancestor has a different birth time, and she did have another daughter who sadly died when she was six. The good news is that there might be unknown sisters of my ancestor, or even Aunts who have descendants that can help me make a connection. Don't give up yet.
