Famous Cities Then VS Now
The world has increased over the last 100 years that it's difficult to imagine just how much things have changed during that time.
Many of the world's most famous cities and country capitals bare little resemblance to their earlier selves.
Take a look at these before and after pictures of beautiful cities to see what I mean.
Please give this video a thumbs up if you enjoyed it and also share it with your friends. Don't forget to click the notification bell. It's the only way you will be notified of a new video.

On the photo of Paris in 1900, what we see in the foreground are the pavilions of the Universal Exhibition. These are temporary constructions with metal frames and staff facings. On a photo from 1899 or 1901, they wouldn't be there either!

It's insane how these Asian cities were barely there in the early 20th century and then became these massive futuristic metropolises in such a short (relative) timeframe. This is awesome, I had no idea just how much development happened just within the last few decades of the 20th Century alone.

Fascinating! I grew up in downtown Frankfurt Germany in the 60’s and remember when it was safe to be out on the streets all day and night’s too. Today never! It’s so sad to watch a beautiful city become a manure pile to put it politely. (At least the Bahnhofviertel where I grew up). Conclusion: Not sure I can see all this as actual progress.

@@towaritch Paris has always been a dump, I invite you to read what Mozart had to say on the city of Paris (he explicitly said that Paris at the time was a shithole) or Victor Hugo, things don't change even centuries later, Paris was always seen as that crime ridden dump. Baron Hausmann in the late 1800s did a good job at renovating the city, but at the same time only put the problem away from the center, until the early to mid 1900s there was a big slum around Paris.

the Pripyat one seems kinda morbid. crazy to think how it was one of Ukraine's biggest cities but now mostly nobody lives there after the nuclear disaster, and for good reason.

Sonya Jersey should do another video about the exact opposite. For example, some ghost towns that used to be some of the biggest and famous city’s back then. Like there is a town in southwestern Idaho called, “Idaho City” and back in the 1880s, Idaho city used to be bigger than Portland Oregon back then. Idaho city was the biggest city in western USA back then.
