I live in a rural area and my Great grandmother is buried on a Ridge, or large hill. You can see for miles over rolling hills. I go there to unwind and de stress. I tell her everything and enjoy the beautiful view.

Buddy Holley was musical genius. I grew up listening to his music thanks to my parents. He was ahead of his time with his unique style of how he would sing, unmistakable. The good really do die young.

@@teomanvural897I think some are ahead of their time. Copernicus was one. Hey folks. The earth is round (though I believe that was fleetingly understood in ancient times). The sun does not revolve around the earth - other way round! I would count Leonardo Da Vinci, yes, Buddy Holley, and definitely Elvis Presley. Lots more. Anyone who sends our collective thinking in a new direction. I believe it's called a paradigm shift.

I honestly dont get why they listen to the family instead of the actual will of the deceased person!? Like, its his will, so why not do the thing he wants to and overgo his will just to get what U want not what the dead one wants? I find that pretty disrespectful

Disrespectful yes. But funerals, burials are about those left behind not the decedent. They can leave their wishes, it's up to the family if they are followed.

Yep, seeing the grave of Jim Reeves (the man with the velvet voice) brings back great memories. I grew up with his music and is still a big fan of his songs, which I still listen to on a regular basis. On a personal note the plane accident that killed Jim Reeves and his passenger was ruled by the NTSB as pilot error. According to NTSB records Jim Reeves was a licensed pilot to fly small single engine aircrafts. According to the NTSB Jim Reeves did not have sufficient training to fly this particular aircraft, because it was much bigger than the one he has trained for. The investigation also revealed that when Jim Reeves entered the storm clouds, he asked the local control tower for directions and due to static or miscommunication, he turn the plane in the wrong direction and flew the plane into rapid rising terrain and crashed. My late mother was heart broken when she heard over the radio that Gentleman Jim Reeves has passed away.

I really appreciate these specials and never miss one. Tonight I remember Freddie King especially. I met him in 1976 on a winter night he was playing at a Blues Club in Montreal, I was the Label Manager for the record company that was releasing his current albumn and he invited me back his dessing room for a chat between shows. What a nice man! He regailed me with so many stories of his travels through Europe during the years and how friendly and open he found the people in those countires. He had me hanging on every word. What a wonderful, gentle, freindly man. Incidently, I have never in my life heard any Blues Gitarist sound as sweet and perfect as he played that night. A great, great musician. I can't believe he was dead only 10 month after that delightful evening. It broke my heart. R.I.P. Freddie, thank you for your gift you shared so openly!

As a huge country music fan of the 50's - 90's it was a treat to see Charley Pride Freddy Fender Jim Reeves Ray Price And all the actor's and actresses buried in Texas. To be honest I didn't know that Powers Booth passed away so that was a shock. I say that this is one of the best videos and I need to say thank you to all who contributed. Wonder if Bonnie and Clyde ever thought that after nearly 90 years after they were gunned down that they would still be spoken of. May they all Rest In Piece and thank you for all you given us.

EXCELLENT!!! JR Ewing - the man everyone loved to hate and couldn't wait to see him get his just dues. Larry Hagman was superb in that role. I never went anywhere on Friday nights until I watched the next episode of "Dallas". He IS a legend. Every time you hear his name mentioned, you immediately think of JR Ewing. I wish they'd bring back this series again!! They show so many reruns on TV, especially on ION TV, having "Dallas" back again would be a real treat. Thank you, so much, Arthur. This has to be one of the best videos you've ever done. They are all well worth watching but this one was long and very informative. Always done with respect and good taste. KUDOS to you!!!

My favorite Don Meredith moment is, of course, the famous Oilers game where the Oilers were getting crushed on Minday Night Football. The camera panned the grandstands and a none-too-happy fan made what could be politely called a rude gesture with his middle finger. Frank Gifford and Howard Cosell were speechless, but Din saved the day by piping up, "Well Hawrd, he thinks we're number one."

The Von Erich family's story is absolutely tragic. There was actually another brother that died in childhood, Jack Adkisson jr, who was electrocuted and drowned in a puddle in 1959, when he was only 7 years old. Jack is interred in the same cemetery as his brothers and parents, but for some reason he's buried with his uncle who died a year prior to Jack at the young age of 14. Their graves are marked uncle and nephew and they share a headstone. Out of the six Addkison/Von Erich brothers, only one, Kevin Von Erich is still alive and the only one to live beyond his 30s. Their mother Doris died in 2015, so like her husband, she also outlived all but one of her sons.

Detroit won three NFL championships with Bobby Layne in the 1950s (I believe two of them were over the Cleveland Browns), but they have never made it to the Super Bowl, which didn't come around until 1967 after Layne had already retired.

BRILLIANT! Thoroughly enjoy all your videos, Arthur, and this one was up to your usual excellence. I met Peter Mayhew once when he was signing autographs at a card and memorabilia store. My son was a huge Star Wars fan, so we made the trip to see him and get his autograph. I was struck by his quiet, gentle nature, and the fact that he couldn't have made a dime appearing at this little store, but yet, there he was, happy to meet and talk with anyone who wanted to see him. And I have a somewhat obscure connection to James A. Michener, in that he was originally from Bucks County, PA, where I live. In fact, I live on Michener Court! The county seat, Doylestown, is where my now-grown son lives, and Michener's name is all over the place. So many other names in this episode struck a chord in my heart, from Mary Martin and Larry Hagman (big Major Nelson fan!), Ben Hogan (wish I had his swing!), Dorey Miller, James "Dobbs" Hampton, Mac Davis (Lord, It's Hard to be Humble! and Baby, Don't Get Hooked on Me), to Freddy Fender, Charley Pride, Freddy King, 'Gentleman Jim' Reeves and of course, Buddy Holley. I could go on and on, but I'll just say that if I couldn't live here, I'd want to live in Texas.

Another Texas Hero is Audie Murphy. He was a great WWII Hero. I feel it is important to mention him as he was one of the most decorated Heroes of WWII. He isn't buried in Texas, but rather in Arlington Cemetery, along with so many other fallen Heroes. He was a crack shot and enlisted at the age of 17.

Really like your vlogs! In regards to Bobby Layne and the Lions... there were no Super Bowls in the fifties...he led the Lions to 2 NFL Championships...the third time he was injured and couldn't play so Tobin Rote led them to their 3rd Championship... Bobby Layne was traded to the Steelers and thus began the curse of Bobby Layne on the Lions & they haven't won a thing since

I always thought that 'My Maria' was an original Brooks & Dunn song from 1996 (that song is still one of my all-time favorite country songs to this day along with Vince Gill's 'I Still Believe In You' from 1992), but I had absolutely no idea that it had originally been performed by B.W. Stevenson 23 years earlier until I found the Stevenson version online a few years ago.

Great job. I had absolutely NO idea that Texas had THAT many well known names. But there is one that was missed - and I'm presuming that is because nobody thought or knew to go to Beaumont, Texas. There you would find the grave of the great Mildred "Babe" Deidrikson Zaharias, the great Woman Athlete of the first half of the 20th Century if to all time (hey, a lot of her golf records still hold). And I don't think she was just a famous woman athlete, I think - like many others who know her story - she was one of the greatest athletes period. There didn't seem to be one thing she couldn't do. And she even played harmonica and sang to boot. Hopefully sometime soon someone can include her here on this great channel (if she HAS already been acknowledged, honest, I never knew it - really).

Arthur, these are SO well done. I'm not sure if someone has picked you up as a narrator for a commercial, or whatever, but if they haven't they should. Your narrations are extremely well done, along with your video content and editing. So impressive! Great job as usual. I have to admit I feel a little crazy saying this, but I binge watch these because they are relaxing and very interesting.
