Correction: Jesse Owens was awarded the Congressional Gold Medal (not the Congressional Medal of Honor). And to clarify, the birth date on Walter Huston's marker is incorrect, hence the age discrepancy.

My dad used to work at Washington Memory Gardens and was there when Bernie Mac was buried. There are several other famous people buried there like Koko Taylor who recorded the original Wang Dang Doodle and Major Lance who was a singer in the 60's. Many blues artists are there. At Holy Sepulchre there is a grave of a child (I think the last name is Quinn) and apparently if you make a wish it comes true. A family friend is buried there. Both of these graveyards are in Chicago suburbs and not far from the downtown area.

I’ve JUST discovered this, the other day, and I’m absolutely binging on these fascinating videos of yours. Your research is remarkable, and as my husband said when I played him one of these, your voice and tone are very pleasant to listen to. Plus, I think your camera guy does a GREAT job - these are filmed and edited really well. Unless you’re your own camera guy, and if yeah, good on ya’! I’ve always been interested in graveyards - I’m of the mind that they aren’t creepy or spooky but, they’re there for us to be able to remember the existences of those inhabiting them, famous or not - those who came before us shouldn’t just disappear into the netherworlds of history but, rather should be recognized and acknowledged, even just for a moment. Everyone’s existence means something. However, I’m 60 and most people my age are more of the thought that graveyards should be avoided except to visit those people they know. So, though I’m in ABSOLUTELY NO HURRY to move into one any time soon, I’m glad to see there are others who share my interest and thankfully post it on the Interwebs. Thanks so much for this enormously interesting and informative channel! Plus, about a week or so back, I got to prowl around the Bonaventure Cemetery in Savannah, GA - man, that was cool!

I pulled up KZbin to find something to listen to whilst cleaning out my desk on this dead day at the parlor. I was ecstatic to see this video pop up. Fun fact: my sis helped direct Rick James funeral. Another fun fact. I happened to be directing a funeral the same day as Nate Dogg's funeral took place in Long Beach. As I was driving the procession back for burial, a woman sped out of a neighborhood, cut right through the procession and got right up to my hearse to peer in. My only guess what that she thought I had Nate Dogg. Nope, but I did work at the cemetery across the street from that Forest Lawn, and later that day got caught up in the security hoopla running around for work. I hope you do another one of these series, and that when you do I have time to participate. This was such a joy to see.
