I was fortunate enough to get an autographed copy of Alan Young's book about Mister Ed. He signed it and sent it to me a few weeks before he passed. His name was Angus Young and changed it to Alan. He also embellished his Scotish brogue for Scrooge McDuck. He was born in Scotland. It is a great read about the show. I still watch Mr. Ed every weekend 9:30 am

What a small. small world!!! As a young boy growing up in Dallas, Allan 'Rocky' Lane was my favorite western hero!!! It also helped that we shared the same last name, though I am Black!! While living in Inglewood, I helped coach little league football, across the street from the cemetery!! I used to jog through the cemetery, it is very, very large!!! My house was on the other side of the cemetery!!! Who knew? I was a big Mr. Ed fan, it was years later that I learned who did the 'voice'!!! RIP 'Rocky'!!!!
@dariowiter30785 жыл бұрын
Allan "Rocky" Lane was a well-known B-actor in B-Westerns from the '30s through the '50s before Mr. Ed hit the airwaves in 1961. Lane's best known Western was the Republic Pictures serial, The Red Rider(or "Ryder"), which came out in 1946 and featured a 13 year old Robert Blake as the Red Rider's Indian boy sidekick.

Mr. Ed was a great show. I was 10 when it aired so it was a perfect age to enjoy it. When you mentioned that Mr. Ed was buried in Oklahoma, I curiously did a search to see if you could visit the gravesite. It's on private property but people do stop by and visit. It has a large granite memorial. I tried to check the comments to see if anyone had mentioned this and didn't see it but there apparently is some controversy about which horse is buried in the grave. A horse named "Pumpkin" was used for many of the publicity shots and appearances and many believe he is buried there and that Mr. Ed was cremated and his ashes distributed around the ranch. There are other theories out there about it. It was an interesting search. Who would have thought there would be controversy about Mr. Ed's grave! Great video Steve. Brought back some fun memories of a better time on TV.
