Famous Guests of The Shelbourne Hotel Dublin

For over two centuries, The Shelbourne has been a place where Irish society was shaped and history was made. The hotel has always been the number one choice for visiting dignitaries, movie stars, politicians and artists. I was lucky enough to stay there a couple of years ago when on a work trip. There was a big concert on (Pink I think) and all the normal hotels were booked out. So thank you Pink and thank you to my employer for footing the bill :)

That was great. It would be great to know the rooms of Ronnie & Keith, Paul Newman, Robert Redford, Liz Taylor & Richard Burton, and the rest of them. Dont forget, William Makepeace Thackeray stayed there in the middle of the 19th century

This list is just a list of some of the worlds legends who have had the honour of being a guest at this old school classy establishment. My mother and father had their wedding reception there in 1955! I remember sitting at the bar on a sunning summers evening back in the 80`s and there was Marianne Faithful and John Hurt sitting down together enjoying their gin and tonics! As i post this its in the news about the removal of the beautifull statues that have graced the entrance for over 150 years because of the BLM movment. Marriott Hotels in there wisdom did not even ask for permission to remove them. This is a listed building so this can only be described as vandelism. Owners of historic buildings come and go all the time. This current owner has stepped over the mark here and i am sure Dublin County Council and The Georgian Society will get the statues returned for the pleasure of guests and passer byers.
