this band is honestly far too under-rated, the deserve much more attention that theyre getting because their songs are amazing and their lyrics seem so sincere

My grandfather died about a month ago, he got rushed into an hospital and non of our family got there in time since it were late at night. He had alzheimers and could bearly even recognize me but were always obesessed with me and my brother. I didnt think anything of how long I havent seen him since so much has been going on around me. Listening to this breaks my heart, I miss him.

This is in my opinion the best song on the album. It's depressing as fuck and shows just how awful it truly is to die alone from the perspective of someone having to live through it. No Parent should ever have to bury their child and you guys did a FANTASTIC job of depicting just what that might feel like.

Robert Mathews I think since JT himself is a father, that adds a lot of real, genuine emotion and connection to the lyrics of songs like this one and "Hell in the Headlights"

This and One In The Chamber with The End of The Beginning are my favorite songs on this album. I watched the OITC music video and cried my eyes out. I lost my friend Matty to suicide and the video just hit home. This band should get WAY more recognition.
@breespooner1579 жыл бұрын
I totally agree with you. Many of my friends and family members have committed suicide and I can really relate to FLW's music. I also love how this band writes stories with their music. If you listen closely to the lyrics you can tell that each song has a character that somehow passes away through a very common reason of death and all the characters and deaths all somehow connect. Genius.
@michaeljoseph49759 жыл бұрын
Marcus Miranda honestly i love OITC, i have a history with depression and an attempt myself. the video hits home every time i watch it, and plus its a good ass song, im not telling my story for attention i just believe this kinda music is amazing and needs to be in more genres and not just this one

Even though I dig the heavier stuff, I think this is definitely my favorite track so far.
@matthewoneill84195 жыл бұрын
The song has to do with a dad whose children have died before he dies in the hospital: Jerrad, who died overseas (Brothers in Arms) And Daniel, who dies by gunshot after his friend Zack convinces him to steal drugs from a drug dealer (The Killing Zone) Afterwards, Zack copes with the death of his friend, Daniel, through using Heroin. He dies of an overdose (Fading Memories) They're all connected within the Council of the Dead, a group therapy room within the afterlife where participants are given the task of reaching into their memory of life to uncover the unknown past and come to terms with their death, as explained in the song, Council of the Dead

@noobkiddo65228 ай бұрын
5 years late, but Imma say it anyway. I always thought his 2 sons are from "Brother in Arms" who died overseas, and the one from "One in the chamber" who died at home of su1cide because of his guilt after causing a car accident that killed the guy from "Hell in the Headlights" and took him from his daughter. And this guy's wife is the first woman in the beginning of the album, "The Fog ". As for the guy from "The Killing Zone" and "Fading Memories", it's exactly what you explained in your comment but they aren't related to the guy from this song... Btw, Idk how you knew their names tbh lol

I am 15 years old and I don't get emotional very easily. Never once has a song made me shed tears, but here I am, lying in my bed listening to this, crying softly into my pillow. From the lyrics I can hear over my sobs it seems to be about an elderly man who is dying of old age but none of his friends or family are there to comfort or support him. He is fighting death in the hope that at the last minute one of his sons will walk through the hospital door to see him one last time but this will never happen as they are both dead, therefore his mind is telling him to give up and let death take him. What gets to me is that I'm thinking of my own grandfather, a man who despite being annoying and stubborn sometimes is my dearest family member and probably the only person I can trust. Me and him have had an argument recently and even now I imagine him dying in his bed, nobody to turn to. The thought of him dying before I can apologise is bringing me down in tears. I need to tell him I'm sorry before it's too late...

This song always makes me cry every time I hear it. My mom and my grandmother were in the hospital for a long while dying of cancer and when their time came they passed away in the hospital with no one by their side. I blame the doctors for their death, I don't think they did everything they could to help them. The doctors just prescribed them with a countless amount of medication. They were left to rot alone in a hospital. I miss my mom and grandma so much, id do anything to be with them just one more time.

I lie here waiting For one of my sons to walk right through my door But no one's coming 'Cause everyone I've loved is lost I'm on my own My greatest fear is here And I don't want to die alone I want my family They always said they needed me But I need them more It's getting hard to breathe And I feel the cold And it's taking over I see my friends and family And my boys are by my side Before it all went wrong Before the both of them had died And I will try Just to go back to a time when I knew I had it all I'd give anything to have them here beside me But that'll never be I'm all alone Dear god how did this happen to me? You left me with no purpose and left them both to bleed They killed my boy at home and the other overseas So now I'm left to rot alone and die in this hospital If they could both just be here now I'd let them know before I go I was so damn proud But they are never coming home So now I'm left to rot alone and die in this hospital Give it up surrender (Surrender) Let it all subside there's no one by your side You'll never, you'll never win this battle within (Battle within) Your time has come, your body's going numb Now give in Now give in Now give in I see my friends and family And my boys are by my side Before it all went wrong Before the both of them had died And I will try Just to go back to a time when I knew I had it all I'd give anything to have them here beside me But that'll never be I'm all alone My skin goes cold as I'm barely breathing My body's done, I've lost all control I want my sons right here beside me But now they're both gone, and I don't want to die alone I'm starting to feel my vitals failing I'm drifting away to the dark unknown Death sinks in as it overcomes me My greatest fear is here, I don't want to die alone... As the last beat of my old heart subsides The doctors call the time, it looks like I've died alone
