Thanks for the video. Where on the map are the hills specifically, north of Mt. Carmel? Trying to get a good location and how to get there for the next ride in a few weeks. Appreciate it.
@TheBeatenTrail3 жыл бұрын
You're welcome! I'll have to see if I can mark up a map for you of Mt Carmel and arrow them out. Look us up on FB and PM me, I should be able to get to a computer tonight after riing.

I prefer Burma and Darkwater (or St Kierns) mostly because they are closer to where I live (near Philly). I do enjoy Locust Gap. I wish FRO would do a deal with AOAA so we could go out one arm north of West Springs Energy, cross AOAA land, and come back on the south arm, rather than haivng two dead end trails.
@TheBeatenTrail3 жыл бұрын
Nice, well, Burma I enjoyed in the winter, and Darkwater we had some amazing snow riding. I am still working on my St. Kierans and 901 review. I agree with the AOAA, too close to not have a connector trail (thats open.)

@@TheBeatenTrail A lot of my favorite trails at Burma are single-track, which don't work for your crew's vehicles.

👍I just love that FRO has something for every kind of rider.

@@TheBeatenTrail I don't do snow riding anymore. Last time I did it, at Burma, I dropped the bike and broke one wrist and both hands. So I wait for clear trails in my old age.

I hear ya. I couldn't handle snow-riding with anything less than 4 wheels. For me, "With Age, comes a cage!"

Hey man I live near Allentown pa do you know of any free trails near me? I’m having a really tough time finding some
@TheBeatenTrail4 жыл бұрын
Free, its not free and unsure how far it is from you, but check out www.ssrt.org/ It is $20 for a yearly pass, and that's not free, but pretty close. We're constantly reviewing new areas to ride in NJ/PA/NY, so keep watching!

Love the info and footage. Thank you. I’d like more info on FRO . I have two young boys i wanna bring but want it to be safe for them. What are the safe areas for youngsters at FRO?

Thank you! Glad you're enjoying the videos! Well, Famous Reading requires 12 or older when it comes to ages, so unless its a special-use event, you'll have to call them and inquire. For beginners, I would say Burma can be nice open and flat (the parking lot side), Ashland South behind the Red White and Blue car dealer is wooded hills, more quiet than other tracts. St. Kierans can be quiet, but its small and leads into Darkwater and 901, more higher traffic areas - so you can go as you deem appropriate. Use Maprika or ONX maps and it'll show you were you are real-time on the maps, it helps with location, difficulty and for the most part will make your day more enjoyable. Locust Gap can be quite busy, so although it has some long muddy, flat trails from the parking lot, its usually high traffic.

Cool video, would love to have another place to ride! Do you guys have much for mud pits?
@TheBeatenTrail4 жыл бұрын
Yes we do. I would say Darkwater has a bit of water and mud to go through. I have to do more research and let you know on the other FRO locations!

Hello love the videos! We ride a lot of darkwater and have been over to Ashland/Mt. Carmel/Locust gap a couple times. Was wondering what’s the easiest way to get from mt Carmel to locust gap without having to hit a railroad track? Is the only way to get to locust gap to backtrack toward Ashland and cross over? Thank you!
@TheBeatenTrail4 жыл бұрын
We're heading back out there this weekend, so we'll get more information on the borders of the zones. If anyone else has the answer, please chime in! Thanks for the question.

Do you know how to get to Mt caramel from locust gap with out illegally crossing the railroad tracks?my sons and I were Trying to figure it out last weekend but we did not
@TheBeatenTrail3 жыл бұрын
Yes if you make sure you keep following the road without crossing it until you get to the railroad track crossing that is the place. That’s how you get from Locust gap to Mount Carmel safely let’s say.
@scottfillius72933 жыл бұрын

Nice videos, great image quality. One nit: you talk about the giant hills of "anthracite". Its not the valuable anthracite coal, they would mine and sell that. The locals call it culm. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anthracite [quote] In American English, "culm" refers to the waste or slack from anthracite mining,[5] mostly dust and small pieces not suitable for use in home furnaces.[\quote] There are giant culm piles in all of the anthracite mining areas, from FRO up to Wilkes-Barre and beyond. Culm used to be considered unburnable, and was left as waste. Recent technology can actually burn it, but the environmental costs of burning culm exceeds the heat value.
@TheBeatenTrail3 жыл бұрын
Very cool. Yes, I always knew it was waste, a combination of anthracite and some iron mixed in as well, shale. But CULM, now I know! Awesome. I will have to use that in a future video. Thank you! I always try to learn new things, so I appreciate it!
