cant wait for famu to return..even though i am a Southern University fan my high school band was based on FAMU so I always liked them.

On June 1st 1946, Dr. William P. Foster moved too Tallahassee, Fl to direct the Famu Marching Band. He had a plan, his band would dance, and play their instrutments at the same time. EVERY HBCU they would perform for were astounded. If Famu was coming too town the stands would be full. Other HBCU school soon FOLLOWED their lead. Now, ALL HBCU Marching bands often IMITATE the 100, but NONE can DUPLICATE the 100!

Although the Marching 100 has a great history, it must be noted that all HBCU bands do not imitate the Marching 100. The Grambling Band never did. When Conrad Hutchinson Jr. arrived in Grambling from Cincinnati in 1952, he brought a playing and marching style that is uniquely our own.

I think there should be a brass plague monument put in the band room with a plague mounted in front of the band room outside on Florida A & M campus to not only pay tribute to Robert Champion but to remind future band students about what can happen when there's Hazing in a Band.

How dare you all compare famu to tsu.There's never been no comparison,I've followed famu for 25years and tsu can't in no way hang with famu on no level.I've seen year after year tsu gets smoked in the heritage classic by the boom.Amongst the elite hbcu bands TSU is never mentioned.The elite SOUTHERN,FAMU,JSU,UAPB,BCC AND SOMETIMES GSU.The rest are just mediocre,tsu,scsu,ncat,mvsu,alcorn.pvmu,nccu,howard,hampton,and so on.Sorry add Alabama to the elite.

FAMU lacks any type precision drilling. They do the same thing every year. Go to their assigned spot, play a boring intro, start dancing, form a design, move to another spot, dance some more. End of show.
