HBCU bands are superstars in their own right and when one of the best HBCU bands in the land hits an iconic PWI college town for an HBCU celebration weekend, you already know the Marching 100 was prepared for the bright lights.

Even though I’m a UNC fan, not a Florida A&M fan, I am a big FAMU marching 100 fan

I'm from NC, and I'm laughing out loud watching the Chapel Hill musicians trying to dance. I know some folks out of my high school class 40 years ago who went to Chapel Hill for music in college, and gotta say, none of them would have been known for dancing. Great narration.

Nice. I was a player for K State back in the day... god almost 20 years ago now. We as Trombones had a culture for oursleves, but I doubt it's quite like HBCU bands. Awesome stuff. The KSU band has since gone legit ( close to Ohio now), so my comments may vary.

I understand the need for collaboration but it should not be at the expense of the HBCU band. FAMU is great in its element, let them be who they are. Nothing but excellence! A joint performance should only have been pre-game. We have zero quarter, and 5th quarter, but half time FAMU should have been allowed to do their thang and not limited. I was there and as an alumni of the 7th of highest hills, it was a disappointment cause we know what the 100 can do. It was watered down, so the less skilled could keep up. if you want the HBCU experience, it needs to be on OUR terms and not what YOU think it is. The culture will always be preserved.
