Ok, here we go: A.C.E stands for Adventure Calling Emotion, but it comes from the fact that they were all dubbed "aces" at the different companies they were at before they became a group. You may have seen HAN from SKZ dubbed an "ace". It's a term in KPop for someone who is good at everything: singing, dancing, and either rapping or songwriting. (In Han's case he's great at all 4.) WOW started at YG and then moved to CJ ENM where he met Donghun and Jun. Byeongkwan and Chan were in JYP. (Remember, Chan and BangChan from SKZ were in that zombie TWICE song BTS mv.) I don't know that it falls into any specific genre within KPop. A.C.E likes to try out genres that aren't traditionally used in KPop. One reviewer wrote, " Favorite Boys’ thundering beat is immensely refreshing. This instrumental has a sense of depth, fleshed out by rock guitar and horror-show synth." The spray-painted drawing is a traditional Korean Goblin or Dokkaebi. And yes they are referencing that they are supernatural creatures like Goblins. Donghun portrays the King of the Underworld as well as a traditional Grim Reaper. Jun and Chan are twin Goblins from other dimensions, WOW is a time-traveling Goblin, and Byeongkwan is a trickster Goblin. The Dokkaebi chant in the chorus is how you're supposed to lure a Goblin out to fight you and then you can win their gold or their service by wrestling them and winning: "In Korean fairy tales, traditional goblins like to wrestle with humans. Using that, their choreographer found a way for them to use traditional Korean wrestling in their choreography and in their clothing styling and set imagery." It's similar to the "Come out, come out wherever you are" that Western children say when playing Hide and Seek. Having seen A.C.E live during their last tour, I can affirm that they do sing and dance while performing live. They do sound incredible live as well! Thank you for this explanation. I fell in love with A.C.E 2+ yrs ago right before they went off to do their military service. Their song Changer was my first comeback song that I experienced from A.C.E. I have been listening to them for the past two years and haven't seen someone explain this as well as you. I only knew slightly of what this song was about. It's good we have Choice like you who is willing to educate the baby choice like me. 🫶🥰

It was really unfair the way ACE had to enlist just as they were starting to get noticed . Their company is small and only very recently managed to even give them their own dance practice studio . You can see in the MV they have a small budget , some sets are basic . I think they have some rock base in their music and that atracted me .

I thank you so much for saying out loud what I think so often: it's ok if they don't dance during a live performance, dance does not make it "live", it's the live VOCALS that makes it really live. I don't always want my bands to dance+sing+spin on their heads whatsoever - I am perfectly fine with just listening and watch them perform whatsoever. they are not machines, but human beings, but the kpop industry is turning into something that is "breeding machines" lately. everyone has to be an all-rounder, or they are worth nothing, I hate it. loved your reaction, thank you so much, I hope you'll check out some of their other stuff as well, including the covers, because these guys are true gems of the industry.
