I think the reasoning behind the trailer being so short is this…it’s far better to undersell a part 2 to a classic, such as Beetlejuice. This way, it will keep the audience in suspense about the final product and also not overselling the concept to the movie. Leaving no room for disappointment. Love Beetlejuice. I have Lydia tattooed on my right arm with the tombstone and Sandworm. Really great to see them doing this sequel. My only complaint is that the original makeup artist, Ve Neill did not do the makeup on the 2nd film. I spoke with her at a convention and she told me. But at least I have seen her recreate the makeup in front of me at Monsterpalooza 2018.

Yup its Charles Funeral. His character was killed off because he's had some, shall we say legal issues involving himself and some underage boys. Regardless his death is being used as the event that gets this whole crazy ride going. The entire movie uses basically zero CGI, its all practical effects, props and stop motion animation. They even got some of the original animators back to work on this. Danny Elfman is doing the score. A more fleshed out trailer was shown to the CinemaCon crowd a couple days ago showing alot more. While its not available to the public yet descriptions of it sound awesome. Lydia releases Beetlejuice to help save Astrid from being trapped in the afteife, Beetlejuice runs a amuck in the town, Astrid is shown being chased by sandworms, we get to see Beetlejuices zombfied wife Delores for the first time who is said to be a soul sucking evil that gives off Morticia vibes. We even get a humerous replay of how Charles dies.

That's *a* funeral. Might not necessarily be the only funeral. The rumor I've heard is that Jenna is the one who dies and comes back as a ghost (repeat of the bridge scene?) And the family have to deal with the aftermath of that tragedy, and the mess that follows.

New trailer at CinemaCon confirmed its Astrid who accidentally opens a portal to the afterlife and gets stuck there while trying to contact a dead relative, Lydia is the one who calls on Beetlejuice to help get her out but Beetlejuice being the way he is causes all kinds of chaos doing so. I don't buy into rumors there's to many with this film. And all are unsubstantiated. The only info that's semi-reliable is couple test screening accounts that echo the story that she gets trapped in the afterlife, Beetlejuice is roused to help get her out, and that Astrid has a boyfriend. Those are backed by the CinemaCon trailer. There's an example in the trailer of Lydia counseling Astrid on their ability, telling her it didn't come with a Instruction manual and hers started around Astrids age. The story is also focused on the three generations of the Deetz women. It would seem extremely odd to have the youngest of them get killed which at that point what's the motivation of the story? If she's dead she's dead even Lydia knows theres no return from that but the focus of trying to get her out of the afterlife after being stuck there really is a plot device that can move a story along.

It's been annoying that for like the last 2 decades everyone's been like "oh this is just a generic thing you like if you're a goth" and they don't believe that it was genuinely my favourite childhood movie lol

Same love/ obsession with the movie....nervous/angry theres a sequel and a sinking feeling in my stomach followed by internal whispers of " please dont f it up, pleeeeease dont be terrible". Had the same feeling with beetlejuice the stage musical, but that was a GREAT play ! The actors were amazing!

What I love is that the trailer has kind of an 80s trailer feel to it (as in, trailers back then barely gave anything away) as opposed to film trailers now where they reveal pretty much the entire plot in as short of a space as they can. This makes me think that this sequel is gonna be amazing, and I can't wait!

I guess i am lucky that the hotel i live at across the street is a movie theater and a texas roadhouse and i will tell my husband we will be having a date night...it's been along time since we had one !! I also love the first Beetlejuice. I loved the cartoon too, but the movie is one of my comfort choices that I can watch over and over. I think it's such a good stand alone movie and it didn't need a sequel, but it's been so long that this feels more like a sequel for the sake of bringing it back around vs someone trying to make something better than the first film, so I'm so happy for it 😭. Michael Keaton in some other films speaks with some "beetlejuice-isms" so I've been dying to seen him in this role again and I'm glad we get to see it now! The trailer popped up as an actual ad for me when I watched it for the first time, so I wasn't expecting it. But with every easter egg from the first film that came up I got more and more excited. The trailer doesn't show much but that's how they should be in my opinion. They've hooked all of the fans of the old film in and left everybody curious to what's gonna go on. I love that the first film was one of your childhood favorites and now you're able to bring your own children to see the sequel 🫶🏻

Honestly, I only discovered the movie Beetlejuice later, but I love it so much that I created a little Halloween tradition around it; I'm European, and sadly, not many people in my country actually celebrate it. We already have another holiday that involves this trick-or-treat kind of tradition, so my culture doesn't really see the point. But every Halloween, I sit down and rewatch Beetlejuice; needless to say that I'm kind of hyped for the sequel. I mean, it's good to hear that some folks from the original are reprising their roles, and the new casting choices look decent too (Jenna Ortega as Lydia's daughter definitely was a good casting decision if you'd ask me; not specifically a fan of hers, but she has a history in actual horror films and honestly did a great job portraying Wednesday Addams). But the trailer lowkey looks to me like it's going to be an actual horror movie instead of a horror comedy; Like, I definitely see SOME of the humor from the original in this teaser, but I'm lowkey dreading that this sequel might just end up being just another 'edgy remake' situation if the concept is handled poorly. Like, it's a good premise for sure, but the quality of the final product is really going to be all in the execution. Just saying; We all saw the trailer for that remake of The Crow... 😬So crappy that you can't help but wonder if ChatGPT wrote the script for that trailer, and that darned well SHOULD be a cautionary tale about what can potentially happen to an otherwise good concept if you leave writing the actual script for the final product up to AI. Anyhow, I'm still looking forward to the full trailer, and I'll be counting down to September 6th with bated breath. 😄

Fuck yes I will see the sequel once it hits IMAX theaters. I have been obsessed with Beetlejuice since I first saw it when I was 7 years old. Thank god Michael Keaton is reprising his role for the title character. It's also cool to see that Jenna Ortega is playing Lydia's daughter as well. I am not sure as to whether or not we will see the Maitlands since Alec Baldwin has a bit of I wanna say criminal activity issue going on now and therefore can't act. But yes I am a HUGE fan of Beetlejuice period! I just saw the Broadway musical last month when it came to my hometown and I am such a fan that I own the Beetlejuice monopoly game, mood ring, bracelets, sandworm broadway exclusive plushie and sweatpants, 3 shirts, the blu-ray film and the entire cartoon series.

Well, it looks better than the Crow remake trailer, but of course that's not saying a lot. What we've seen so far looks like a simple remake of the original Beetlejuice. The question is: have they found a new story worth telling? Or will we see the same overly-reverent legacy schlock as in the recent Ghostbusters movies? The music choice was painfully dumb, but presumably that was the choice of the marketers and doesn't reflect the film. Since you asked for opinions of the original, I quite like it. It has many fun and iconic elements, though I think the structure is a bit weak. Definitely prefer it to Edward Scissorhands, which I find boring.
