Steinbrenner was not only a great owner but an awesome human being. He donated so much money to many people, causes & organizations. "I believe the good you do for others comes back to you," he said. "But if you do something good for some other person and more than two people know about it, then you didn't do it for the right reason."

I was the Executive Assistant for the owner of a direct marketing company where I live in Cleveland in the 1990's and his name was George Steinbrenner. Of course callers usually asked if he was "the" OG.

Over time, Steinbrenner got very good at making himself just vulnerable and self-aware enough to get away with being the guy he was the rest of the time. I think that's called being a sociopath.
