How about some of the kids trying (and failing) to parallel park on the street? Your channel make my day every day.

Welcome to the Letterman KZbin Channel, home to all your favorite clips from Late Night and Late Show - as well as conversations with the writers, producers and performers who helped make it all happen. The language may strike you as quaint & flowery, the clothing comically lacey & ornate - but that’s how things were back in this colorful and now bygone era.

I love this clip because it reminds me how awkward and nervous I was as a teen male in the 80's who was really skinny with zits all over my face --- if somebody said I was gonna be on national TV doing parallel parking I would've cried and shat my pants LOL

Every now and again, i'm on my 3rd floor balcony, and i catch someone trying to parallel park. You can tell the ones that don't live in the city, because they have no idea what they're doing.

The camerawork (and directing/editing) of this bit was brilliant. There's the Letterman Show, and then there's all the rest, doing Letterman. Everyone freely acknowledges it! When you see the original article again, like this clip, the contrast is unsubtle. I'm so happy Dave has this channel!!!!! What a wonderful way to go through the archives! I have a weird musical request: Eric Burdon once came on and sang "C.C. Rider" and Paul played an incredible solo, one that I used to rewind and watch over and over again. This would have been in the 80s, like '84, '85. Possibly the summer. Would love to see that again!

I still can't figure out why Leno had better ratings than Letterman in the 90's --- Dave was still doing original and funny bits like this one while Jay was just sitting at a desk making lame commentary with celebrities --- Letterman had way more comedic talent

@@rattalesbostonrockroll4960 yes I agree, and it always baffled me why Leno held the #1 ratings over Letteman in the 90's --- Leno had more A-listers I guess, but Letterman was far superior with the comedic wit which made him a lot more entertaining

The thing is, when this was on, I took it for granted. Now, nobody does this kind of stuff. This is still hilarious decades later, but if one of today's guys did it it would probably be try-hard and unfunny. So I'm grateful for the lightning in a bottle of Dave and his writers, and Ruperts and Pat Farmers.

If you are a female that means nothing. If you are a guy, that is a bonus. lol I had a few all girl classes that the "men" would have nothing to do with. Let me tell you what, when the guys jaws were dropping because I am strutting around with girls talking to me in the halls and giving them rides home, I had the last laugh. 😏 Typing, simulated model office, ten key, basic programing and cooking were not on the top of the tuff guy list of electives. But each and every 1 of those things set me decades ahead of my male piers. As well as the attention and respect of a lot of girls. (btw, I also took auto shop, weight lifting, advanced swimming to name just a few others too. lol)

God I miss Dave. He had the greatest bits. I even had a Letterman cake with a top 10 list at my high school open house, and went to college for broadcasting. These kids are pretty much from my generation. Just 2-3 years younger. Nice to hear teens who are fairly well-spoken and not saying “like” every other word. 🙄 I doubt if most teens today can parallel park. Or most adults for that matter. A few of these cars are real boats by today’s standards too, and with no backup cameras or parking assist lines. My first car was a stick, and I can remember parallel parking in my driver’s test. As I remember I did okay. Not perfect, but passable. I feel like driver’s tests used to be harder than today. Or at least judging by the ways people drive they must have been. I regularly see people driving with their lights off at night, not using their turn signals, not knowing how to use a roundabout, not stopping at stop signs, and every other thing imaginable. Drives me nuts. No pun intended. 🚘
