I was at this taping. I was 18 and already a huge fan of the show. Dave’s pre show banter, while standing in bleachers with the audience, was the best part. I felt like he was speaking directly to me but we probably all felt the same way 😆

behind the scenes look at michaels comedy logic and protocol. I probably watched this back when it first came out but appreciate it even more now. This was a couple years before he took over again at SNL until present day so I wonder if something was in the works parallel to this appearance. not a fabulous guest but very intriguing content and I have a renewed respect for how shrewd Mr. Michaels was and is.

Fan Request: This is a deep cut and an obscure one, so I realize I’m likely alone wanting to see this, but here goes. I have a vague memory of a throwaway bit where an R&B act is performing and the camera cuts to Dave’s desk. It’s dark so all you can see is his silhouette. He’s standing on his desk dancing. It’s a double dancing impressively. As far as I recall there was no or very little mention of it, as if Dave’s just always dancing on his desk every performance but perpetually off camera, so we’re never get to see it, which I think is an equal parts stupid and brilliant conceit. It’s one of those silly, dumb bits that I found hilarious. To this day I think of it from time to time and it still gets me. I’ve never been able to find it, either because it’s not online or it’s too difficult for me to search as I’m not clear enough on the details. I think it was Boyz II Men performing, but not positive. It may have been on the show they actually performed or a later episode where they showed the performance clip with the edit. This would’ve been in the CBS days. Full disclosure: It’s conceivable the ravages of time have distorted my memories of this bit and it was in fact a different late night host like Conan. I only saw it the one time late and night and never again and it’s been decades. I’m reasonably confident it was Dave though. I’d love to see the clip again because (1) I think it’s hilarious in its absurd simplicity and (2) I’d love to know if it actually happened or if it was just some fever dream.
@waxwax878110 күн бұрын
Nope - After they finished, Dave said "Where's the snipers?" - No visit with the fakers.
@chris55sanchez8 күн бұрын
Thanks for the info. I’m a little confused though. Are you saying the clip I remember actually happened, but at the end Dave made a sniper reference that today would be considered inappropriate, so it’s unlikely the clip would ever be reposted? I don’t even get what the sniper reference was about. Guess you had to be there. 🤷♂️
