Are you still making the video you mentioned at the end on measuring the pressure drop?

I wish I could figure this out for the BIBO printer (based on MakerBot's 2012 release of their Replicator design with some modifications) We have space and ducting issues which are super challenging. All current 50x15 blower fan duct designs hit the front door and the back Z rails. I tried to do some duct designs for the standard 40x40 axial fans and the static pressure was so high that more air came out the back of the than the duct ports.

Step one: determine how many Cubic Feet per Minute (CFM) your fan pushes. Step two: replace your fan with one measured in Cubic Feet per Second (CFS).

Can a velocity stack help in the loss of pressure? I created a duct that uses very small space and I can not find 5020 fans anywhere. Modifying it is not an option, so I wanted to know if a velocity stack would help in there.

And I know these 5020 fans I am using perform well because I am using one with an adapter to replace a 4020 axial fan and the difference in sound and airflow is there. But that adapter has a long, unrestricted section.

In theory it should help. However, if the cross-section area in your duct is significantly smaller than the cross-section of the fan outlet the velocity stack might not help much. The best way to know would be to test the pressure loss and airflow with and without the velocity stack, and then compare the results. This is the topic of my next video. The other option might be to make the internal duct surfaces more smooth if they are not already. Using a smooth tube might be a good way to do it.

I don't know why, but I flinch and cringe every time I hear you pronounce "anemometer" as "anenometer".
