He’s actually made a lot of no-fondant cakes, if you go through the episodes. That’s why this is my favorite channel! I love how he can make beautiful cakes with just frosting, piping, and molds. 💜

People who don't bake don't understand fondant is needed to make many decorations. Yes, some things, like flowers can be made with buttercream but that would be difficult when making a 3D decoration

MK Niazi27 I believe it’s meant so that they can pull each layer off the cake separately and cut it and the straws are only like support beamz

The straws are only to support the weight of the tier above it.

The straws are there to support the weight of whatever is stacked on top, not to hold the cakes to center. You can use a long dowel to do that, but in most cases if the cake is not more than 3 tiers, you really don't need it.
