You were correct, Danny. It WAS a pansy! Viola is the latin name for the pansy flower. They are often used as a pretty food garnish because they are edible.

A friend of mine told me that her father went back to China to fulfull his wish and live the rest of his life in his rural isolated village where he was born. The village lacked modern conveniences and had one telephone for the entire village. Years later she got a call and was told her father had passed. She asked, "what did he die of?" "He had bloated belly, " was the reply. That fat statue in the restaurant brought that memory back to me, "bloated belly!" Danny, my friend told me that story 50 years ago!

Pansies and violas are the same plant. The terms are interchangeable. The problem arises because flower nurseries cross breed hybrids with wild species to get different colors, and then use different names/terms for their creations. Viola sounds nicer than pansy, but it's the same plant. A similar example are Shishito Peppers (on the menu at Mizumi). Those are the same as Padron peppers (cultivated in Spain, but originated/native to Central and South America). Thanks for the high prices PSA warning. $45 for 4 poorly made gyoza was outrageous. Thanks for sharing your fancy dining experience!

What i like about Japanese cuisine. Is they are very ingredient forward. It is what it is. Hibachi and tempura. Are my favorites followed by grilled bok choy and it seems even the soy is much cleaner flavor
@aces75152 ай бұрын
Ridiculous to charge for fresh wasabi, they should be embarrassed. A high end Japanese restaurant should only serve you the freshest of ingredients, they are getting premium prices! Also the gyoza is way overpriced as well as the miso soup. That was nice of Dan to invite you though. Thank you for taking us along. Funny, we had Japanese food for lunch today, two miso soups, two rolls, one bento box and a mixed tempura, $48 including tip! Sure we didn’t have the beautiful atmosphere but the food was delicious and that’s what matters! Sue

Wagyu (pronounced wah goo) fat has a low melting point. That’s why when you touched it, the fat melted onto your fingers. It’s said that Wagyu ranchers prefer to eat A4 graded Wagyu which has less fat/marbling so they can eat more of the beef. A5 is certainly decadent and you don’t need to eat much of it to feel full.

Wow, I love that statue! ❤It's so unique. I would love to have one at home and slap that belly for good luck every time I leave. 😃I looked up the artist, Kim Seungwoo, and he has a Hercules for sale at $350k asking price and David for $250k. They're made with coins! What?! Was Dan Su playing matchmaker? 😆 Hope dinner went well overall. I don't think you were full from that. Based on the receipt, there wasn't any off-camera eating. Paying mostly for the romantic ambience, I guess.

Now you say and we know fat is flavor but do you not like the high amount of fat in wagu. I can't afford to get it myself to test. Your safe, pansies and violas are edible so munch away. I find them bitter. I love nasturtium leaves and flowers which have a peppery taste. You ate very upscale in the last few videos. Cost aside what is your favorite kind to eat. Keep up either kind for our enjoyment.
