There was an error in the uploaded video right at the end where 7 minutes were cut off, and today was the earliest I could get a good version ready for you all. As a treat, I have a double bill for you this weekend! Check back tomorrow for more! Also, yes, don't worry, I take more pictures in the next video. Please know that I played these in advance, so any tips are fairly pointless, and if you just hold on, you might see me working these things out organically for myself later on. @@icklenellierose You play the game how you want, don't worry about it, I didn't take photos full stop when I played it through many moons ago, couldn't be bothered with it and I always had so much money I always made autohack tools cuz I hated that mini game. Didn't mean to backseat sorry.

The part at 10:20 where Cohen comments on you jumping over a gap is a reference to System Shock 1. The writer/director said that that moment in System Shock was what made him want to write video games. And then he got to write System Shock 2 and Bioshock.

I was totally making the same face when seeing the Pianist part. I also love how this game surprises you with 'Boss rooms'. Like I was totally looking at the scene on the stage, then after all that stuff happens the room is quite clearly designed for what you fight next. Love stuff like that. - Jack

No shade, but I really enjoyed the hacking. Now, partially that was because I slotted tonics that made it easier, shot the machines with ice to slow down the fluid, and was playing on PC (which is slightly different). But I legit understand that there is a LOT of hacking in here. Thanks for shooting that one U-Invent in frustration. I laughed and completely sympathise.

I think the idea of a steampunk universe having hydraulic hackers is pretty brilliant, and I honestly liked this part of Bioshock a lot. Maybe they wanted to incentivize hack builds by having a lot of hackable things, but it just became too many. A better option would be to do it Prey (or heck, even System Shock 2) style where devices are simply unhackable without the right advanced tonics so as to disincentivize non-hack builds (such as Ellen's) from spending time. But since everything is nominally hackable, players will get itchy if they don't at least try-unless you stop them outright. This is an old game design pitfall; players instinctively want numerical optimization AT THE EXPENSE of their own enjoyment, and as a designer you have to stop them. Case in point: Ellen is literally leaving money on the ground from time to time because of a full wallet, and yet hacking every vending machine for lower prices anyway. Players cannot help doing this, and I'd be doing exactly the same thing in her seat. Whew, long comment!

@@jeffreywells1832 I think a lot of how people play is wanting to experience everything in the game. So if you make it so they need a thing to hack then they are going to pick that up because otherwise they are missing out on something in the game. So adding a bunch of gates with stuff locked behind them just means that players just use all their resources to open all the gates and never actually spend them getting better at any one thing which just makes the game harder and more frustrating. I prefer everything being hackable, then if it gets too much just stop doing it. I think the baseline should be being able to do all the things then use resources to specialise in being better at somethings than others. It's frustrating to get impossible hack problems but you then just need to not do as much hard hacking or invest in making it easier.

I realise that this won't help much now but if you used winter blast on things you want to hack (turrets, cameras etc) it actually freezes the timer giving you longer to hack them 😊

Cohen’s mission sticks in my mind as one of the sickest (and not in a good way) missions in any game ever… on par with the Call of Duty airport level. Not only does Cohen have you murdering people for him, he gets you to take pictures of the people you have just murdered and then display the pictures in his gallery.

Heyy Ellen Did you know that when you are hacking something and it overloads it can't kill you (unless you trigger an alarm).That way you dont burn through all your meds

Said it before on the last upload, but: 11:20 "Have a SEAT!" Also, 13:20 I never understood the default "ripple" effect on these underwater windows. It's not like the surface of the water, the appearance of an underwater window is perfectly clear because the "surface" is the flat, unmoving glass pane. Thankfully you can turn it off. 🙂

keep snapping pictures Ellen- there's plenty more info on your foes to be unlocked. Also, IIRC there's a plasmid that let's you recover EVE when you hack an item- it comes in handy. 17:13 I think if you had gone to the right side from the start you would have been successful.

@@jeffreywells1832 Yep you're right, I was thinking of Infinite. I'm always save scumming as hell when I play Bioshock to avoid losing all my health kits and good ammo if a fight goes badly! Which is kind of cowardly, as it isn't really a «hard» game, even on top difficulty 😅

Oh yeah, random recall, you can take pictures of “enemy” turrets/bots cameras (pre-hack) )and little sisters. Freezing turrets/machines will slow down the liquid and make hacking easier as well.

(But I agree, I'm even listening to the oxventure episode on the podcast days after watching it online now for some reason haha, doesn't feel like a productive use of my time vs catching up on the crown or enola holmes 2 or wednesday but I like this more 🤷🏽‍♀️) (ps Ellen if you read this - perhaps you have a plan to get X episode out by X date for a specific personal reason, but if you don't feel free to slightly slow down the frequency if it will help! This is getting painful now. Hacking would be easier if you upgraded it, by adding more tonic slots. Electric gel is for killing big daddies. Everything is easier if you take photos of the bad guys, and machines, while they are still alive. Preferably just after they start attacking you.
