I refer to Jean-Pierre Léaud as my "film class crush." I first saw him in "Masculin Féminin" and fell for him hard. His acting was superb and his presence onscreen always commanded attention. I was smitten. Even now, all these years later, a shudder runs up my spine whenever I see him in that film.

i’m so late to this but so relate! i didnt first see jp in film class unfortunately, but i do remember giving my hard copy disc of the 400 blows to my film teacher. she’d definitely not expected any mention of both new wave french and italian films in her class. especially when my classmates only wanted to watch jumanji, emoji movie; all that. i was extremely offended when they thought eternal sunshine of the spotless mind was boring and confusing-… the art of french films are too much for the average schmo

@@intensehummingofevil but you _are_ an average schmo, Andy. In fact, you are the funniest kind of average schmo: the kind who thinks he is above average while everyone around him knows the truth

Cool but the commentary falls a little into pretentiousness...

Thank you for saving me from having to comment. Too florid in his "description/explaination/interpretation of the first shot in my opinion.

no doubt inspired by Léaud's histrionic presence on film. where the viewer tries to elevate their articulation of perception to the level of emotional display on view. a common false contest. or am i bejng too pretentious too
