I think this is our problem too. We would have to stand on stool under fan to get remote to work. Now the light on fan won't come on at all and remote doesn't turn off fan or adjust speed. Remote lights up. Battery isn't dead.

Thanks for sharing your experience, as well as how you resolved your issues. My wife loves the size and look of our Fanimation Slinger V2 in our living room, and when it’s working, it moves air throughout the entire open room very well. However, it suffers from the poltergeist you described. It changes speeds, turns itself off, and turns the light on or off seemingly at random. Whenever it wants. This is the second one of these we’ve installed in the living room. The first one did this as well, but then it burnt out after about 3/4 years and we replaced it with a new one that also does the same thing. I’ve just tried the code reset/re-sync on the remote. If that doesn’t work, I’ll call Fanimation and try to get this resolved. If that doesn’t work, I’m uninstalling it and re-enacting the “fax machine” scene from Office Space. Then I’ll go buy another, more reliable brand’s fan.

I have had similar issues with my fan, and now it just quit altogether. So I pulled out the receiver and there was a scorched area where something has gotten to hot in the area the power to the motor comes from. So now I will be trying to get a replacement from animation as well, cuz on Amazon they cost around $100!

I had similar issues. After seeing this video, I decided to check if the aerials were similarly zip tied to the other cables. They were. I snipped the zip, pulled the aerial out the top, and wouldn't you know it? That was enough to fix my issues. I previously had to hold the remote above my head and find *just* right spot, now I can control the fan from anywhere within about 10 feet. So before installing a new receiver, see if it's just a badly located aerial.

Wow, good call. Maybe that could have been the trick for one of my three; the one in the man cave had serious range issues but no other weird behaviors like the one in the living room. The living room fan would go faster or slower, or turn the light off and on as if controlled by a poltergeist regardless of how many codes I tried. That one still mystified me but it doesn't do it any more, so I'm okay ... for now... 😁👍😎 ... in any case, thanks for watching and for your advice!!

I have the same fans and remotes and I was getting ready to rip them out and trash them, maybe I'll give them one last try and see if I can get replacement controls. It's really frustrating but I've had the same experience with other brand fans and I've thrown them out.

Wow, someone who watched to the end! Yeah, I used to fly them and my Blade heli quite often, now I'm using them more for decoration in the man cave 🤔 You can check out my other video of the subdivision build, I flew my drone over this nearby neighborhood every week or two for several years and then spliced together some clips so you can see the entire neighborhood built in less than 15 minutes.

The editing must have been killer on that video. We used to sport fly in new neighborhoods until construction would get to far along. I raced Quicky 500, Giant scale and finally Formula one! Burned out on training new flyers. My fault because I took on too many students. I just couldn’t say no. Back to your video though. How do I contact them to get replacement parts?

I need an update. Did this solve your problems? I have 2 of these in my living room and they are both possessed. The lights turn on at random, the blades change directions at random, and they also change speeds. The remote range is good on both of them but I hate these fans because of the issues I’m having with them. Thanks for this video. It brings hope to the money spent on these beautiful but frustrating fans. Cheers.
@hangtime_31 Жыл бұрын
Hi Chris! Thanks for watching. My fans had different behaviors - the living room fan would go faster or slower or turn itself off randomly and the light would go on or off by itself occasionally. I don't recall it ever reversing. The patio one would be mostly fine, and the garage / man cave fan didn't do any of that but the remote barely worked and I had to stand under it and hold the remote as high as I could to make it work. New batteries, too. What are we now, seven months out from this video? All of them work like I would expect them to and I haven't had any problems. No random on or offs, remote in the garage works great, all is well. Which is great because I liked the fans and even though I had thought about replacing them all, I couldn't find any designs I liked as much. So far so good. 👍 Cheers!

If the battery in the remote is good and it's still doing that, then I would do what I explained in this video. Call them up, get them to send a new fan radio receiver module and remote control, and replace them. Mine all work fine now. Good luck! 👍
@jillianmcgee57822 жыл бұрын
Do you have a video of changing the code to the receiver? We are unsure how to locate the receiver and change it without removing the fan. The electrician installed ours on factory settings so it is constantly turning off.
@hangtime_312 жыл бұрын
Hi Jillian, thanks for watching! If you just want to change the code, it's super easy - I explained in this video but admittedly it went by really fast. All you do is turn off the power to the fan, usually at the light switch. Take the cover off the back of the remote control and change one or more of the four switches next to the battery. Turn the power on to the fan and within 60 seconds hold down the "set" button on the back of the remote until the light on the fan blinks twice, then release the button. That's all there is to it. I talk about it at about the 3:15 point in the video. The problem in my case was no matter how many times I changed to a different code, the fans were still all wonky and/or the remotes didn't work well even when very close to the fans. That's how I ended up getting new receivers and remotes, which fixed the problem in my case. Good luck!

There no dip switches in the receiver, only the remote. After you set the switches in the remote to the code you want, the receiver is programmed with the power off / power on procedure I demo'd in the latter part of the video.

Open the housing following the instructions on this video, and pull the aerial out through the top vents. It might be enough to fix your issues - it worked for me. Of course, if your fans are only a couple of weeks old, you may want to just return them. This is an obvious manufacturing defect.
