When I discovered Fanny in the early 70s, none of my friends liked them. Nonetheless, I purchased 3 of their albums. 50 years later I feel vindicated. Rock on Fanny!

Now I’ve watched this 12 times, & my favorite part is where she says “You know what my game is,” which isn’t in the Randy Newman original & changes the nature of the song. But my second-favorite part is where she loses control of the lisp & says “It thcared me tho, i woke up thcreamin'!” She’s trying so hard, but she lets loose, loses control & goes full Daffy Duck. It’s adorable.

It's not your fault. They had 5 studio albums and they all kind of sucked and never got airplay on the radio. I don't think they were even allowed on the radio in Europe with their name having a very different meaning across the pond. Bad marketing, bad management, bad record production. But kiiiiiiiiler band! Their live performances are proof!
@jollyscholar888
@jollyscholar888 Жыл бұрын
I think they are great. But don't get delusional. Look at their competition. They were given every chance- a major record label contract, toured as opening act for many great bands, etc. Listen to them for a week. Then walk away for a a week or so and see what you remember emotionally. It will become obvious why they simply didn't make it. They were superb musicians- yes- but there was nothing very unique or memorable about their music. There just. wasn't. Sorry to be an onion head. I like them alot....but they couldn't compete with LZ, The Doors, Procol Harem, Cream, The Who.,Black Sabbath... even second tier bands like Grand Funk Railroad are more memorable.

Excellent song. This band was overlooked and underrated in the 70s. Living in a small town in Texas as a little kid back then wishing more girls were rock musicians, I didn't know they existed. If I had I would have scraped up the $$ somehow to buy every album they released. I'm sure other girls and boys would have too. Thanks to KZbin, multiple generations can now discover and enjoy their songs and talent.

Fanny was a really good band. Taking the gender equation out of it….they were one of the best rock bands of the early 70s….Not as amazing as the top bands like Deep Purple, Zeppelin etc etc ….but better than a lot. But for me the outlier was Nickey. She just was on another level. I know stardust when I see it and that girl was the real deal. She had what very few did. With the right direction and collaborator I think she could have been the female equivalent of say Elton …John. This is a musician that earned the respect of Leon Russell and Joe Cocker. She had IT. Every time I watch this I just am floored. She’s worth a deep dive of listening and exploration. Easily one of the greatest musicians of the 70s Fanny was really good , but she was on another plane.

Fly Johnson 0 seconds ago So this is basically in the vibe of My Guitar Gently weeps but it is so good it makes the aforementioned seem like a junior high kid wrote it. Plus that bridge man ….that’s songwriting. That’s character. You have mini Janis on vox, yet she’s also Elton and Joe cocker …..sexy as hell ….and 3 women that are practically as good as Black Sabbath was at the time….what’s not to love. Easily one of the best 70s live songs in any genre.
