WOW Queen Mary looks absolutely beautiful. I like the necklace on top of the lace top of her outfit. The colour suits her complexion too. King Frederik looks handsome as usual in his Navel Uniform. Best Wishes to them and their lovely family and Denmark.

I don't think the emerald necklace looks lost on the dark green lace of Queen Mary's gown. It blends with the lace organically, rather than competing with the other jewels Queen Mary is wearing. The inset photo shows Queen Margrethe wearing a gown with a lower neckline, showcasing the emerald necklace in a less subtle way. Queen Mary was smart to have avoided a copycat styling. She looks magnificent.

It is an official photo so the higher neck gown is more appropriate. A lower neckline to show the necklass would have been out of place I think.

The emerald necklace is indeed lost in the material of the dress. A scoop neck dress displaying the emerald necklace on her skin would have highlighted the necklace.

These portraits were ordered by the Danish Government , for display in Danish Embassies , representing Denmark in foreign countries , replacing the portraits of Queen Margrethe II. The Danish Government have yet to decide which portraits to use -- two portraits , each showing the King and Queen standing alone , or the Portrait of them standing together . The portrait(s) will also be hung in Public Buildings and Government Offices in Greenland, Denmark, and the Faroe Islands. All the King and Queen did was to dress very formally, and stand still whilst the official State Ohotographer took photos , from which the initial , formal portraits were presented for consideration by the Danish Government , Of Course the Royal Haters had to make an allegation of forgery and deception , but this time the Royal Haters are making accusations against the whole Danisgh Government and the Danish Prime Minister, The King and Queen merely stood there whilst the photos were taken, New coins (kroner ) are also being minted , showing King Frederik's head, just like in Britain, where Queen Elizabeth's head is being replaced by the head of King Charles.

Yeah I don't care for the embroidery either. It's either embroidery or crown jewels, both together it's too busy and makes neither stand up. A mid shoulder, half sleeve of the same colour and fabric of the dress, and an open upper chest would have done enough. It would have looked clean and still charming. The colour of the dress is beautiful tho.
