Great video. I have the Dyson floor fan/heater and COOLIFY (I've owned all versions and have the Cyber now). Both are essential to me. I cannot sleep without my Dyson.

In the past I've read articles which point out that all your blood flows through the back of the neck, and thus cooling down the back of your neck will cool down your whole body. For instance, the articles note that if you're overheated, one good thing to do is take a shower with the water landing on the back of your neck (as opposed to, say, your chest). Let me add that these were articles about what you should do if you're so overheated that you're in risk of a heat stroke, so it was very important to have quick and successful cooling of the entire body! The advantage with the blood vessels going to your brain is that there isn't much room in your neck, so the blood vessels are relatively close to the skin on the back of your neck.

That’s very interesting Garance! Explains the cooling we experienced. Thank you so much for your comment. 🙏

I always liked the idea of the Torras but not the price, especially for something that has a consumable battery. Got a generic equivalent from Amazon for

That does sound incredible. What do you think the biggest differences would be for the price?
@Stouffer136 ай бұрын
I have never properly tested the Torras or the Ranvoo but knew I didn't want to pay £200-£300 and wasn't even sure they would work and not be another useless gadget, this seemed like a sensible way to dip my toe. The one I've got was obviously knocked up to a price in china. Build quality/plastics are not quite as good (though it's more than acceptable imho and seems reasonably solid) and warranty is probably worthless as it was from Amazon marketplace via a Chinese seller. Battery quality was also a concern but it's held up well for 18+ months with a long run time on max cooling and fan of 4 hours or so which hasn't dropped yet. Took the risk and glad I did. Don't really use it for heat (maybe if I have a bad neck ) but cooling pads and fan are brilliant on hot days/holidays, I also regularly use it for cardio sessions at the gym and it's survived that very well. If the branded models were £80 or even £100 I would have bought them but not paying 5, 6 or 7 times the price I did for a fancy neck fan. Dare say the branded ones are better, just not £260 better.

Top tip, try out DC motor fans. Just normal pedestal fans but with a DC motor. I have one from Leaderpro which cost €100 last year, but it's been the best investment I've had. Not only does it use less power than a traditional fan (2,5W on lowest setting which actually cools), it's also super quiet! I have a Xiaomi Air Purifier 2 and it's about as loud as the Dyson, which means that it's actually pretty loud in operation (and it blows upwards so unlike the Dyson I can't direct the airflow). During summer nothing beats the Leaderpro fan in terms of noise and cooling performance besides getting an actual AC unit. There are others that are similar to the leaderpro, some with built in batteries. I believe the Xiaomi fan has a built in battery, but from what I've read online the quality of the fan is poor and it will become noisy or just break within a year. Edit: And for heating in winter the normal fan can be useful too. My leaderpro swivels all the way to point upwards and by circulating the air towards the ceiling you push the hot air back down which means your heater has to work much less than it normally would. I know that where I live (Germany) heating with gas/oil is cheaper than with electricity, so much so that a low power DC motor fan + normal heating with a (smart) thermostat on a per room basis is much cheaper in the long run for me.

The first time I watched this, I thought the collar was very interesting but certainly not a replacement for any of the air conditioners in my house. If I have a few consecutive days of sunny and hot weather, the temperature in my house could get up to over 100ºF (40ºC). That would be bad for a lot of things in my house. But after thinking about this a bit more, it occurs to me that the collar cooler might be excellent for when I'm cutting the lawn on a hot day. I wouldn't have to wait so far into the evening to start the lawn, and having the collar would definitely reduce the risk of my body overheating. It takes less than two hours for me to cut the entire lawn, so the life of a battery charge on the collar would be fine.

Yes, that’s a pretty cool use case for sure. Also if you’re the only person at home, working in a single room for example. This has very _different_ applications to fans or ACs.

Fans get pretty dusty and need regular cleaning, probably another benefit of the Dyson is there’s less maintenance in that regard- love a good fan chat

Dyson also gets very dusty. You don't see the dust because the blades are hidden inside the Dyson. Maintenance would be worse because you would have to open up a Dyson that wasn't designed to be opened up by the consumer for in order to clean the blades and the air ducts.
