Sad we didn't get to see someone point out how the Thraxans are intentionally in the story to make Mark think about their lives the same way Nolan sees the insignificance of a human life. Their one year of existence is significant to them and they can become wise and capable of a harmonious society in that short time, but Mark still pities and undervalues them as people. He can't believe his father would leave his mother for an alien woman in only a few months, but to her it was a quarter or more of her life. This is the episode where we get to see Nolan's capacity for empathy with all species and Mark's narrow perspective on what "the right way to live" is.

If Nolan had real empathy, he would be feeling bad about killing all those people on Earth, not just his loyal subjects on Thraxa.

This was a lot better than the comic. In the comic, Mark forgives his father right away. And Nolan doesn’t seem to show any regret or hint of being a hero (at this point). He’s just trying to get back in good standing with the Viltrumites

I've been waiting for this episode since I first binged the comics after season 1! I liked how they kept Mark hugging Nolan like he did in the comics but I appreciate how they changed things so that instead of pleading with him to come back Mark rips into Nolan for everything he did. Mark's brother and him have one of my favorite dynamics in the comics and I hope the show does justice to it. As a fan of the DC animated shows from the 90s and 2000s, I love how they got Phil LaMarr (Green Lantern) to voice Lucan and Clancy Brown (Lex Luthor) to voice Kregg. It's like seeing ruthless/genocidal Green Lantern and Luthor finally getting Superman's powers.

What i love about this show is the depth of the writing is absolutely brilliant, they literally made us and the characters switch perspectives and manipulate them right under our noses without us paying too much attention to it. In the first season mark and us the audience viewed omni man as this psychopathic monster for what he did and say, treating human life like it's nothing calling his wife a pet and so on.... But here we did the same thing to the thraxans without even thinking about it whatsoever, like aw "he married a bug !? kissed a bug, had sex with a bug and had a baby with it...." one of the reactors at 9:20 after seeing all the dead thraxans even said "i mean they gonna die next week anyway" - yeah exactly! that's literally omni man entire point in the whole season one and it's exactly how viltrumites view us, nothing but bugs with a short lifespan and you can tell the reactors didn't even consider thinking about it before saying it, even though the thraxans are sentient beings exactly like us , with emotions, feelings and everything and an only biological difference is what separate us. -so What is Ethical, what is unethical, what is a monster, a monster is a relative term, to a canary a cat is a monster we're just used to being the cat.

(Spoilers here) Wamted to point out that Thula isn't dead yet. She has to get the battle beast treatment yet if the show follows comics. Also the creators of this show really have a beef with her face. Nolan replaces her teeth with his elbow, and then later Battle Beast replaces half her face with his mace. Thula surprisingly still survives that. Some Viltrumites are really tough to kill.
