I’ve always believed in Negan having some good in him, Carl touched it, and seeing his tears really broke me - and the fact that Rick listened to Carls last wish was the best!! I know many wanted Negan dead, but that would just prove Rick had learned nothing. So I’m thrilled for this!!

I honestly don't think Maggie is going to go against rick, I mean she still hasn't gone through Carls letter properly, we will probably have a scene next season where she is reading Carls letter he wrote her, will probably convince her to back down a little against negan. Dunno if anyone notice but the scene where Gabriel jumped out the car to run, I think the reason Eugene was so eager to stop him was because he didn't want negan or any of the other saviours to fire their guns at Gabriel, this could of alerted them to Eugenes plan of the guns back firing, causing them to kill Eugene right there and find another way to beat rick, I know its a silly detail but it really is great story telling... kinda makes me think if they planned the part where Negan said to rick the eeny meeny miny mo was bs

Love how the Maggie leading a rebellion to kill Negan tease for a storyline went absolutely nowhere. She still wanted him dead, but nothing happened that this scene suggested. Guess Lauren and Andrew leaving S9 changed a lot of plans, unless they were never going through with it in the first place.

I'm glad someone else noticed this! They were definitely setting up a civil war type arc where the Hilltop and Kingdom would go against Alexandria and the Sanctuary, but like you said Lauren and Andrew leaving part way through the season killed those plans immediately. That's probably why Season 9 felt so out of place and rushed, like they had to rewrite every episode last second to fit the Whisperers Arc. We were kinda lied to for a big part of Season 8 so maybe that's why alot of fans rank this among their lowest favorite seasons.

@@_Devil I don't know about Lauren, but from what I've heard, Andrew originally wanted to leave at the end of season 8, but agreed to stay on for a bit of season 9, so they would have more time to give Rick a proper sendoff. So his departure, at least, wouldn't have affected the writing of season 9, as they knew when they started writing it, that he was leaving.

It's so frustrating to see so many people bashing Daryl, Maggie and Jesus and thinking they will backstab and kill Rick and Michonne or something when they would never do something like that at all. I absolutely hate that the writers thought it was a good idea to make them seem like villains in this scene (or the whole season tbh) for no reason at all and having them be hated for it when nothing even happened in the end smh. None of these characters deserved that.

Loved this episode, literally don't understand why so many ppl have an issue with Rick saving Negan...he was right. This way is so much better now he can suffer. Also, no reaction to Ricks little moment when Carls death finally hit him...that was so sad bless him 🙁

Okay, but Carl isn't the one who was widowed. Let Maggie get her revenge if she wants to, that shouldn't be up to anyone but her. Also, I don't think Maggie, Daryl, and Jesus have gone "evil" I just think they're gonna sneak around and try to get Negan killed. They wouldn't hurt Rick and the rest. They're family and it just wouldn't be in their characters to do something like that.

Vendetta who knows? honestly I wouldnt peg jesus as someone who’d want negan dead- literally this whole episode, he was showing morgan that people didnt need to die to get a point across. the show-canon jesus is completely out of character. and rick isnt doing this solely for carl; thats primary, but the reason rick is doing this is to show people that they can maintain a normal world like before. im 99% sure that in our age, people go to trial before theyre sentenced to death. :/ killing negan wont bring all those people he killed back. killing negan will only make his victims feel better for so long, because that empty feeling? its never going to go away. glenn, as a matter of fact, wouldnt want maggie to turn against their family for vengeance. glenn was never that type of person, and no matter how fucking terrible people were, glenn avoided killing people up until there was no other choice (at the saviors outpost with heath). maggie is grieving, and with time, i think she’ll understand that, but that doesnt mean shes right in what she wants to do. maggie always been a strong, caring woman- shes driven by the death of her husband. rick was driven by that same death; dont forget, rick knew glenn better than anyone. he knew glenn a significant amount of time before maggie. rick had all the reason to kill negan; for glenn, for abe, for sasha, for alexandria, and after carl died, he was reeling to be the one to kill negan. but guess what? rick spared him. not because he didnt care about maggies pain, but because it was the RIGHT thing to do.

Actually think about it,if Rick didn't read Carl's letter before the last fight,what do you really think the outcome would have been between the two? IMO,I think someone would have ended up dead without the letter of influence for passion.Also note: Negan hit Rick in the stomach with Lucille..(it was covered with zombie guts..)
