Saying that Kendrick is ducking Jay Electronica, Lupe Fiasco and Joe Budden after the control verse is a hip hop take so geniunely bad that even Los would cringe at it. Are the NFR boys 14 year olds who recently discovered what rap beef is?

You can't compare disses "bar-for-bar", it is like comparing novels sentence by sentence. Story of Adidon had very few "bars" that stood out, but the whole dissection of Drake's character is what makes it great. Ghost writers are amazing at writing bars, but it is impossible to write lyrical work "bar-for-bar".

@@doggon234I dont think Kendrick was going for an Ether. What Kendrick responded with was simply him trying to get a better and more focused response from Drake so that Kendrick has the green light to release something that’ll really hurt Drake’s career. Both disses from both artists were warning shots. People overlook that too much. We’re still in the warm-up phase.

@@isaacsmith2011exactly, I don't get how people don't understand this. Drake made fun of his height, his shoe size, his popularity, how he's not even in the top 3. It was a jab and in response Kendrick counters with his own jabs. After this it's time for the real battle. I mean he literally said that he has information if drake takes it further so people either aren't listening or they're being purposely bad faith.

By definition Drake is battle tested seeing as how he’s been in a fair share of rap feuds throughout his career, and has both won and lost, and gained experience in those kind of back and forths. If your only defense against a plain fact is “hurrr durr ghostwriting” which is basically a meme at this point, you might want to reevaluate who is actually terminally online here…

@citrusforce
@citrusforce 6 ай бұрын
I think Kendrick achieved two things with Euphoria that are unprecedented: 1) He drove the point home that Drake only presents himself as black for his own benefit; Kendrick basically said Drake wants to be seen as black because he wants to be accepted by the culture but at the same time he does a very poor job of representing black people because of his character, values (or lack thereof) and the way he behaves in general; While all of this had been said before, Kendrick really managed to bring it all together in a cohesive and poignant way. 2) Kendrick pointed out that Drake probably hates women because he doesn't respect them, he surrounds himself with the worst type of women, encourages them to give in to their worst tendencies, and basically treats them like objects; I believe people massively underestimate the impact this will have on Drake (the self-entitled Certified Lover Boy) and his fan base in the long run, especially if Kendrick continues to emphasize this point on future diss tracks.

Ngl i don't get the impatience with this shit, "its been almost 3 weeks since pushups i'm ready to give up on kendrick", i guess if you're a rap youtuber and have nothing else to do that feels like a long time but idk i've been going to work and living my life, it didn't feel like a long time to me. And the same is true now, drake can take as long as he wants, my ass has a job to go to every day in the meantime. Its also why i don't really understand the complaint that kendrick takes a few years to make an albumn, thats a normal amount of time to go between albumns in most genres other than the most commerical of pop music. Its not a long time, i have a job, there is other music, the next albumn comes out sooner than you know it, its fine if you don't expect to only listen to kendrick

In battle rap, it’s about out classing your opponent. Out rap, out perform, out write. Most cases, only 2 outta the 3 are needed. While I agree that there most likely isn't a single diss track that can take a massive artist out, we might be missing the point as far as Kendrick's intention; Kendrick might just decide to consistently go at Drake and systematically dismantle him until he wipes him out like 50 did with Ja Rule. That would take some doing but I think Kendrick could pull it off. The question is is that Kendrick's intention? At this point, I don't think so. But who knows...

I hate what story lf addidon has done to rap discourse around beefs. If the track hasn't exactly revealed anything new people downplay it when the reality is it should just be about out rapping the other guy while dismantling his flaws.

Lotta the salty people in these comments missed a pretty insightful discussion because they’re too caught up in whether or not one of their favs says another fav is cool and good. The appeal of rap beef isn’t that there’s a winner, guys, it’s about the show. Kendrick is our face, Drake is our heel, and I hate to break it to everyone, but you don’t have a cool or entertaining wrestling match (not trying to demean hip hop, it and wrestling are both great art forms) if you have a complete and uncontested winner. It’s like playing a video game with cheats on, there’s no satisfaction there. As for the NFR guys yeah they’re definitely more skeptical of Kendrick and softer on Drake, but look at these comments, we need some people to play devil’s advocate even if they’re reaching. The hip hop community is largely on Kendrick’s side already!

The NFR boys have had some bad takes on this beef for sure, but I dont think the hate on them is warranted. Any critic is likely to have blind spots and some leniency is warranted especially in light of how young these guys are and their Canadian Drake bias. Don’t get me wrong I dont want to make excuses for them, but there’s no reason to be so negative when they clearly had a conversation with Fantano that was very productive in parts. If you listen to these guys regularly you can really see that they have a passion for the music.

@@ayoisthataspiderbiteonyopp9381 give a rebuttal on what? These guys famously love Kendrick. Fantano doesn't really like Drake but gave him props on push ups. All I'm seeing in the comment section is criticism NFR for being Drake fan boys but when you look at the totality of both creators' background, you could make a case that Fantano is also biased. But no one in this comment section cares about bias, you just want content creators to agree with your take. If they don't, you'll make fun of them and call them Drake Stans. Just let people have their own takes. Now please rebuttal that.

@@someonerandom3141 I wasn't actually calling him biased in this beef. I think he gave super reasonable takes here. I was just saying that people are only calling NFR biased because they have a different take. If we were truly analyzing bias we would also have to take a look at Fantano who has actually beefed with Drake weirdly enough.

Of course Kendrick should mention things that were said already by other rappers. You know why? Because he's one of the most famous rappers of our time and exponentially more people will hear a thing when he says it versus when Joe Budden or Pusha T says it. Compare the day 1 numbers of euphoria to the day 1 numbers of Adidon or a typical Joe Budden Podcast episode and you see exactly what I'm talking about. The honest truth is that because Kendrick is more famous, messages will reach a lot more people when they come from him, not because they're new or original insights, but because he's that much more famous than the people who have said them before.

Kendrick reframed the whole beef in it just being a love hate thing, nothing to do with being the greatest, and painted Drake as a paranoid weirdo tryna call around to get dirt instead of keeping it friendly. I don't think drake needs defending in this instance. Generally i think most people can agree that whilst this was a good track it didn't singlehandedly end drakes career overnight and it feels like the nfr boys are doing people a disserivice by working under the assumption that this is what people believe
