I have Pujol’s transcription of this for the classical guitar. I’d love a vihuela and lute one day too but commissioning instruments by a luthier is very expensive. I would have to cut off my nails though. This is a lovely performance. Thanks for posting.

So much more lyrical than other interpretations I have heard of this. Is the right hand technique on vihuela the same as on lute?
@luteweb2 жыл бұрын
Much thought went into the right hand technique taking into account the markings found in the original book - Tres Libros. Mudarra is known for indicating 'dedillo' and 'de dos dedos' in other Fantasias. In this case, there is only a footnote about the final section; “It is difficult until it is properly understood” concluding "From here on to the end there are some false notes: played well they do not sound bad!” I am hoping to put together a video about this piece and the vihuela talking about these points and the right hand. As always, thank you for listening and supporting luteweb Alfonso! 💕
@claudiosolaresMMX2 жыл бұрын
No. Vihuela right hand technique is thumb over, known in Spain as Figueta Castellana, (Spanish figueta) whereas thumb under is known as Figueta extranjera (foreiign figueta) . Since many lute players also dabble in vihuela de mano , they carry over the lute technique, which is thumb under.
@luteweb2 жыл бұрын
@@claudiosolaresMMX Thanks for this Claudio! 💕 Yes, and if you want to investigate this further you can delve into Venegas de Henestrosa's - Libro de Cifra Nueva (...) para Vihuela 1557. I'm a figueta estranjera! 😉

Great tone, and an interesting performance, but you chose some unusual (for me) rallentandos and tempo changes. Bream's performance remains to me the standard, i'm probably comparing it with it too much.
